Raise is currently hiring an Electrical Technologist on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.

Description

As an Electrical Technologist you will play a pivotal role in supporting the electrical and instrumentation engineering team. You will be responsible for driving the technical design and drafting of complex electrical systems for both major capital and sustaining capital projects. This role bridges the gap between conceptual engineering and physical implementation, ensuring clients mining and processing facilities operate with world-class safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Drafting: Execute detailed design and drafting for low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems.
  • Specialized Systems: Develop designs for heat trace systems, cable tray layouts, and underground electrical infrastructure.
  • Project Deliverables: Support the Engineering Lead in creating a full suite of engineering drawings and technical deliverables.
  • Engineering Support: Assist professional engineers with essential calculations, procurement activities, and the review of vendor shop drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Site Support: Occasional travel to project sites in Northern Saskatchewan and Ontario for field walk-downs, data collection, or commissioning support.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate (4–9 years) to Senior (10+ years) blend of technical depth and industry-specific exposure, with a solid track record working with a variety of voltage levels. (standard facility power to heavy industrial machinery and high-voltage utility interfaces)
  • Experience in designing single-line diagrams, protection schemes, and substation layouts.
  • Experience in managing thermal requirements for piping and complex cable routing in constrained spaces.
  • Familiarity with electrical installations in potentially explosive or harsh environments (common in mining).
  • Software Proficiency:
  • AutoCAD: Expert-level drafting skills are essential.
  • 3D Modeling: Hands-on experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., Revit, Plant 3D) is highly preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards related to industrial or mining environments.
  • Education
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and significant industry experience.
  • Valid Technologist Certification (e.g., ASET, SASTT, or equivalent).

Additional Information

  • Candidates in this role will be required to be local to  Saskatoon as the job is hybrid (in office 2x per week, or as required for projects
  • Occasional travel to project sites in Northern Saskatchewan and Ontario for field walk-downs, data collection, or commissioning support
  • As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre-access substance testing will be required
