Position Summary for Plant Manager

 

This position will report to the VP of Manufacturing. This role will be responsible for the overall effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of company's plant in Villa Rica, GA. Our facility in Villa Rica Georgia is responsible for over 60% of the company’s sales. This role will be responsible for over 400 associates, and the facility is 3 production facilities in one. Working with others, this role will be responsible for driving sustainable safety and quality initiatives, operating cost reductions in manufacturing and packaging, while maintaining the service levels and quality our customers have come to expect from the company. At the same time this role will build an entrepreneurial culture amongst the teams and empower leaders in the plant to develop and bring forward ideas and solutions to various issues that may come up from time to time. 

 

The person in this role has accomplished and demonstrated results through leading and driving a manufacturing strategy based on TPM and Lean principles. This role will be responsible for laying out and executing action plans to deliver the TPM/Lean based strategies and then executing that plan with emphasis on Safety, Quality, Cost, Service and People. Additionally, the individual in this role will develop a vision and execute upon that vision for the plant and will focus on establishing a culture of standardized processes and practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Leadership: Provide strong leadership and direction to the production team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement based on TPM and Lean principles.
  • Safety and Compliance: Promote and enforce a safe working environment by implementing and monitoring safety protocols and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Quality: Implement and maintain robust quality assurance programs to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Production Management: Oversee all aspects of production, including planning, scheduling, and execution to meet production targets while maintaining quality standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Work with the planning and scheduling teams to manage inventory levels effectively to meet production demands while minimizing waste and inventory holding costs.
  • Cost Management: Identify opportunities to optimize costs and improve operational efficiency without compromising on quality or safety standards.
  • TPM/Lean: Drive a culture of “Running to Standard” by leveraging TPM and Lean principles to establish the daily processes and practices. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes, reduce waste, increase productivity, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track performance against targets and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Employee Development: Mentor, coach, and develop staff to build a high-performing team and ensure succession planning for key roles.
    • Automation: Embrace automation and develop and execute plans around automation opportunities.
    • Accountability: Develop and drive an environment where accountability and ownership is embraced. 
    • Mission: Empower and lead teams to deliver upon the Company's Mission, Customer is King.
    • Communication: Effectively communicate both down and up in the organization progress against key initiatives, KPI performance and financial performance. 
    • Decision Making: Utilize data to drive decision making.

 

 

Job Requisites and Experience

  • 10+ years of experience as Plant Manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record in delivering results through TPM and Lean implementation. Experience with “Line Centric” TPM model a plus.
  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes, QA principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven track record of driving operational efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A proven track record and demonstrated ability to think strategically then translate strategic vision into tactical action plans that result in delivered business results.
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • A self-starter and one that has an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to be curious and not accept the status quo.
