Precision Technology Summer Associate

We are looking for a Precision Technology Summer Associate to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Saskatoon, SK.

Location: Saskatoon, SK 

Contract Duration: 4 – 6 months (Summer 2027) 

Wage: $25 – $32 / Hour 

During peak periods in the season, overtime will be paid for evenings or weekends.

As a Precision Technology Summer Associate, you create chemistry by…

  • Conducting precision technology-focused activities for field trials of local and global breeding programs aimed at developing hybrids that provide the highest return to growers.
  • Preparing fields for aerial surveys, creating survey plans, scheduling data collection routines, validating processes, processing image data, acquiring data, and conducting data analytics for the breeding pipeline.
  • Planning and conducting surveys using remotely piloted aircraft to gather data on specific phenotypic targets at different growth stages of the crop, subject to holding a valid basic operations drone pilot certificate.
  • Utilizing your comfort with statistical programming in R or Python to take on data analysis and model development tasks that enhance your problem-solving skills.
  • Engaging in a variety of field activities related to variety development and registration, including seed setup, land preparation, seeding, crop health diagnosis, pest control, pollination management, plot maintenance, parental development, harvesting, and supervising casual employees as needed.
  • Working both independently and in a group setting, depending on the task at hand.

If you have…

  • A thorough understanding of plant breeding, agronomy, and precision technology in agriculture attained through your degree or diploma, or if you recently obtained your degree or diploma in the last 2 years.
  • An educational focus on Agriculture or a related program/field such as Biology, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • A basic operations drone pilot certificate (this is an asset, and we are willing to guide you in obtaining the license if you don’t have it currently).
  • A working knowledge of R or Python (this is an asset, but not a requirement).
  • An interest in precision agriculture and canola breeding, even if you do not have direct experience in the Agriculture Industry.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to be flexible as situations arise, minimizing impact on results.
  • The ability to deliver results in pursuit of both individual and team goals.
  • Previous farm, machinery, or drone experience (this is an asset but not a requirement, as these skills will be developed on the job).
