Construction Manager – Demolition

  • Pay Rate: $85.85/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length: 1 year
  • Location: Burnaby, British Colombia (Lower Mainland)

Raise is currently hiring a Construction Manager – Demolition  on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The Construction Manager in this role will lead the construction execution of large, complex projects, with a specific and primary focus on significant demolition and equipment removal work. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all project activities are completed safely, with high quality, within budget, and on schedule. This position is based in the Lower Mainland region.

Responsibilities            

  • Resource and Financial Management: Manage the allocation of materials, financial, and human resources using excellent technical skills in construction methodologies, estimating, and contract management.
  • Safety Excellence: Prioritize and enforce work site safety by performing and giving feedback on Safe Work Observations, leveraging excellent working knowledge of safety standards and regulations such as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and WorkSafe Regulations to continuously improve safety performance.
  • Risk Management: Develop comprehensive mitigation plans by identifying, analyzing, and monitoring risks (including reputational, environmental, safety, and indigenous relations) for effective risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder & First Nations Engagement: Lead the public consultation process on construction activities, using expert skills in communication, principled negotiation, and persuasive influencing to ensure successful project planning and implementation.
  • Issue Resolution: Respond appropriately to internal and third-party construction inquiries and escalated issues using a good working knowledge of project management and  policies and procedures to maintain positive, collaborative relationships.
  • Technical Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert on committees and project teams, advising on complex technical issues to contribute to the development of future organizational capability.
  • Project Support: Assist the project team by performing various construction support activities, such as supporting the management of claims and facilitating cross-functional team collaboration to successfully complete projects.

Qualifications

  • 15 years of progressive construction management experience or equivalent to lead complex, diverse scope project with Significant Demolition and Equipment Removals experience
  • Proven track record of managing project budgets, material allocation, and human resources (e.g., mention the size or value of projects managed).
  • Experience with construction estimating, bidding processes, and managing project contracts.
  • Experience in RFP development (Request for Proposal) ( nice to have)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with own personal vehicle is required for site travel across the Lower Mainland.
  • Education and Skills
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles (PMP certification or similar is a plus, but not required if the experience is strong).
  • Strong working knowledge and practical application of safety standards and regulations, specifically mentioning Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and WorkSafe Regulations  

Additional Information

  • Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
  • Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network
