 Business Intelligence Developer

  • Pay Rate: $76.50/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length: 6 Months 
  • Location: Burnaby, British Columbia ( Lower mainland) 

Raise is currently hiring a Business Intelligence Developer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is a partnership of 12 municipalities – one Electoral Area and one treaty First Nation. That collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services with its core services being drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management.  

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description 

The Business Intelligence Developer in this role will work with the Water Services Team to develop PowerBI visualizations. This assignment could start as early as January 5th, 2026 depending on resource availability. This work will be performed virtually (3 days) and in person (2 days) or entirely virtual if candidate is located outside of the lower mainland.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with advanced Power BI features such as DataFlow and DataMart; SSIS, SQL Server, REST APIs, and OLAP cubes experience would be an asset. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential

Responsibilities

  • Translating business requirements into technical specifications
  • Designing and developing the Data Analytics (Data ingestion, data warehouse, data lake ODS, pipeline, error handling, Azure cloud data gateway, MS Fabric, Power BI security, Power BI workspace) reusable framework.
  • Designing Data Models based on technical specifications
  • Exploring in-depth PowerBI features for advanced analytics which require more customization like DataFlow & DataMart
  • Designing and building End to End Data pipeline and ETL packages including:
  • Dashboards and reports with PowerBI Desktop
  • Troubleshoot day to day data issues
  • This position requires the ability to:
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal contacts.
    • Provide advice and assistance on matters related to the work.
    • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision, although direction will be given.
    • Maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of extensive analytic development experience with PowerBI and preferably Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Experience in PowerBI report development, reports automation with data source refresh configurations
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with building data pipelines and ETL processes
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with on premise Data Warehouse reusable framework design and implementation
  • Good understanding of cloud design considerations for data storage and processing
  • Extensive development experience with technologies including: SSIS, SQL Server, REST API, OLAP cubes, BI Analytic tools
  • Experience with data modeling
  • Advanced Power BI Service configurations such as Power BI DataFlow and DataMart
  • Experience with analyzing data source systems to identify data transformation needs
  • Thorough knowledge of software development methods, practices and procedures
  • Ability to prepare technical design and write technical specifications
  • Education and Skills 
    • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field ( Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering)
  • Certifications ( nice to have) Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate

Additional Information 

  • Prefered candidates in the lower mainland to work a hybrid schedule of 2 days in the office and 3 days virtually. If candidate is located outside of the lower mainland, they would be working fully virtual
  • A requirement for this role is to provide 2 professional references in order to be considered for this role
