Utility Operator
- Pay Rate: $30.20/hour on W2
- Contract Length: 4 months (with possible extension)
- Location: Alexandria, VA 22304 (Onsite)
- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (schedule may vary during outages)
Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Overview
- The Utility Operator will perform a variety of operational and industrial tasks safely and efficiently in a dynamic environment supporting thermomechanical treatment processes.
- This is an entry-level position; training will be provided before starting new or unfamiliar work.
Responsibilities
- Strictly follow all safety practices and policies.
- Work independently with minimal supervision; demonstrate initiative and sound judgment.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in assigned areas.
- Handle chemical and reagent offloads.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections to ensure compliance with environmental and safety procedures.
- Perform power washing, sandblasting, and other surface-preparation tasks for painting/fabrication.
- Apply industrial coatings to metal products/equipment.
- Use instrumentation to measure painting parameters and ensure OEM compliance.
- Apply coatings in confined spaces.
- Assist in rigging operations.
- Follow OSHA and hazardous materials procedures for material handling/storage.
- Operate forklifts and other mobile equipment.
- Perform additional duties as necessary to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Willingness to work overtime and participate in rotating shift schedules during outages.

- Punctual, reliable, and a team player.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ambitious, quick learner.
- Industrial/heavy equipment experience.
- Painting and sandblasting experience.
Physical Demands
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
