They are a B Corp certified social enterprise enabling healthcare equality for all. As a social enterprise, they manage dental, vision, drug, and healthcare benefits programs exclusively for government and social services agencies in Canada. Their targeted experience and innovative technology provide cost savings, reliable service, process continuity, and accurate, insightful data that enables governments to make informed strategic decisions, reducing stress on the healthcare system through streamlined administration.
As the new Junior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations by applying fundamental accounting principles to perform routine tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all financial records and transactions. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential, as you will be managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Role Accountabilities
•Full cycle accounting with core responsible for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
•Maintain Accounts Receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, and miscellaneous differences are reviewed and addressed.
•Perform daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank deposits, updating and distribution of cash receipt logs, and posting of cash to the accounts receivable sub-ledger.
•Performs routine accounting work following established procedures, such as posting a variety of accounting entries, maintaining the billing system, and preparing invoices.
•Prepares, analyzes, and monitors journal entries, reconciliations, and reports for General Ledger.
•Monitors multiple mailboxes and responds to inquiries in a timely manner.
•Assists more senior staff in preparation of complex reports and financial statements.
•Complies with all relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
•Working with other accountants and auditors.
•Using the highest standards and practices to ensure financial documents comply with GAAP (ASPE).
•Other duties as assigned.
Details
This is a full-time, permanent position with a hybrid work model, combining remote work with in-office days. You will be required to visit the Toronto office once a month, while enjoying the flexibility of working from home. You’ll work Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. They offer a competitive base salary commensurate with experience. Qualifications
- Post-secondary education with enrollment in a professional accounting program
- 2 to 3 years’ related work experience
- Enrollment or completion of courses within the “CPA Prep or CPA PEP”
- Experience with Accounts Receivable (AR) Accounts Payable (AP) and Bank Reconciliation is required
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Experience with SAP Concur-Expense and AP Essentials is an asset
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word); and proficient use of MS Excel functions
- Attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop relationships with partners and stakeholders
- Healthcare and/or government sector experience is nice to have
