Raise is hiring a Senior Data Architect for our client, a leading Alberta energy company. They’re passionate about safeguarding public safety and environmental integrity while fostering responsible, efficient, and secure energy development.  

 

This position is a six (6)-month contract located in Calgary, Alberta. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward.

Accountabilities 

  • Participates in building out the cloud data architecture and extending/establishing reference architecture and patterns, especially around data sharing. 
  • Provides architecture and technical guidance and support to other projects involving cloud data usage. 
  • Provide technical advice and support to the Practice Lead of Data Architecture in implementing the cloud data architecture. 
  • Supports enterprise governance committees in decision-making by reviewing presentations and deliverables and providing cloud data architectural guidance and recommendations to project teams as required. 
  • Provides technical advice during the transition of company data assets to a cloud-based architecture. 
  • Assists in successful completion of data architecture activities and deliverables. 
  • Collaborate with technical leads of other enterprise architecture domains (business, solution, infrastructure, and security) to ensure effective and efficient delivery of technical solutions. 
  • Assists in troubleshooting and developing solutions to data related issues. 

  

Qualifications 

  • Enterprise cloud data architecture experience on the Microsoft Azure platform. 
  • Ability to create and run ARM templates. 
  • Ability to conduct, document, and diagram data architecture and design artifacts. 
  • Well-versed in enterprise cloud data patterns. 
  • Skilled or experienced in Cloud data provisioning and administration in Microsoft Azure. 
  • Data Solution Architect or Data Engineer designation/Certification in Microsoft Azure Cloud. 
  • Skilled developer on the Azure Databricks platform, with specific focus on SpqrkSQL and Python development. 
  • Experience with administering and extending Unity Catalog. 
  • Good working knowledge of Azure Data Factory 

  

Skills 

  • Good communication and teamwork skills demonstrated by experience. 
  • Ability to provide recommendations to support data strategy. 
  • Enterprise data architecture and cloud data migration experience would be a great asset. 

  

Deliverables 

  • Data Architecture support, including project support and ongoing support and maintenance. 
  • Data Architecture artifacts including reference architecture and solution diagrams as part of project deliverables, 
  • Data analysis documents and scripts as part of troubleshooting and solution to data issues. 
  • Implementation of data assets in cloud, like provisioning of storage and databases, including ARM templates for Cloud Implementation. 
  • Establishing data pipelines and support required for CI/CD. 
  • Data migration work to move data assets to company cloud environment 

  

Education/Certifications 

  • 7-10 years of data architecture, data management or data engineering experience 
  • MS Azure certification or experience is required. 
  • Experience in the Alberta oil and gas industry and/or a regulatory environment is an asset 
  • Experience in implementing enterprise level cloud data migration would be an asset
