Solution Architect / Senior Data Engineer
Pay Rate: (flexible)
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Contract Length: 12 Months, Hybrid

Responsibilities:
• Architect and implement Azure Cloud native Enterprise Data Lakehouse and
Data Warehouse solutions integrating structured and unstructured data
• Design scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Apache Spark
• Design and Implement Lakehouse and Data Warehouse Models for seamless
data ingestion, transformation, and consumption.
• Develop data governance, security, and compliance frameworks in Microsoft
Fabric.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements
and translate them into Microsoft Fabric architecture blueprints.
• Work closely with Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Cloud Architects to
implement end-to-end data solutions.
• Guide the migration of legacy systems to Microsoft Fabric.
• Lead architectural decisions and influence the evolution of the company's
data platform for scalability and maintainability
• Create and maintain technical documentation including Architecture
Diagrams, Solution Documents, and other related project documentation
Experience:
• Years of experience as Senior Data / Solution Architect with proven
experience in Data Lakehouse architecture
• Expert level experience in Azure Cloud Technologies including Microsoft
Fabric
• 12+ years of strong technical experience in building and maintaining cloud
data warehouses and data pipelines to support analytical and operational
workloads
• Proficiency in data governance, data modeling, and metadata management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, data mesh, data products, or self
serve analytics environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) or equivalent
Deliverables
The deliverables for this project include:
• A detailed assessment report of the current TPS reporting environment.
• A comprehensive design document outlining the new reporting framework along
with security and privacy controls and data models.
• The developed and integrated modernized reporting system to ensure the
designs adhere to data management standards and best practices in
collaboration with data analysts, data governance and business partners.
• The development of robust, reusable, and scalable data solutions and pipelines
for automating the ingestion, processing, and delivery of batch and real-time or
near real-time data.
• Test and validation reports demonstrating the performance and reliability of the
new system and benchmarking for the data quality.
• Training materials and sessions for the staff.
• Data literacy, data mapping, data quality monitoring and lineage artifacts to
ensure that all stakeholders understand the data and its implications.
• Documentation of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, including detailed
descriptions of data extraction, transformation, validation and loading
procedures.
• Documentation of business rules and transformations applied to the data to
ensure consistency and accuracy.
• A final project report summarizing the work carried out, the outcomes achieved,
and recommendations for future improvements.
• Education, Training, Certifications or Designations Required
Mandatory:
• Must have previous experience with development in the Microsoft ecosystem (.Net
framework) and specifically in the Microsoft Azure and Power BI.
• Must adapt to TPS/ITS working conditions and core values.
Preferred
• Experience working with Public Safety organizations.
