As a Trait Development Associate , you create chemistry by being involved in …
- The advancement of new traits to be developed in support of local and global programs.
- Field activities relating to new trait development from seeding to harvest including:
- Seed set up
- Land preparation
- Seeding
- Pest control
- Pollination management
- Plot maintenance
- Harvesting
- Supervision of casual employees (as required)
- Ensuring standard operating procedures
- Compliance monitoring and maintenance of the trial site isolation areas and post-harvest sites for the presence of prohibited species by scouting fields.
- Maintaining the sites for a standard expected by our organization and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency using techniques such as spraying, tilling, burning, hand roguing and mowing.
- Ensuring standard operating procedures are maintained and followed.
If you have…
- Strong agronomic competence attained through pursuing or having obtained your degree in Agriculture or another college along with experience in the Agriculture Industry.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Ability to be flexible and modify plans as situations arise minimizing impact on results.
- Interest in canola development.
- Ability to deliver results in pursuit of both individual and team goals.
- Ability to be comfortable being on the road for extended periods of time, driving highway and grid roads to get to active trial or post harvest sites.
