Overview
Raise is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join our Global Operations team. You will play a critical role in processing payroll, maintaining compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and supporting continuous process improvement across North America.
Role Profile
As a Payroll Coordinator, you will manage complex, high-volume payroll cycles and ensure accurate payroll tax processing across multiple states and provinces. This role requires close collaboration with Payroll Administrators, Support, and Finance teams to maintain compliance, timeliness, and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
· Payroll and Accounts Payable Processing:
o Process payroll for temporary workers for Canada and US.
o Process payments for independent contractors on a timely basis. Calculate invoices including services, expenses and taxes. Process adjustments and all necessary write offs as required working with the AP Administrators to accurately capture time and expense records.
o Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions accurately.
o Enter adjustments and create special reporting.
· Process Improvement & Collaboration:
o Analyze payroll data and trends to support forecasting and continuous improvement.
o Recommend and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
o Ensure data integrity and alignment between payroll and accounting systems.
o Working with the support and compliance team, respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll/AP-related issues, including pay discrepancies, deductions, and tax withholdings.
· Employee Support:
o Serve as a key point of contact for employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, tax withholdings, and system access.
o Maintain accurate records of employee data, payroll transactions, and tax filings.
o Onboard contract employees and independent consultants into payroll/AP processing system, ensuring rates, dates and all configuration data points are timely entered and accurate.
o Process Offboarding for employees as they are terminated and submit relevant end details to tax authorities including ROEs. Handle any offboarding IC’s that have outstanding balances at the end of their contract, including write offs.
o Maintain payroll/AP records and assists in audits.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a payroll coordination or payroll specialist role.
- Proven experience processing payroll across multiple US states and provinces with varied taxation and withholding rules.
- Proficient in payroll software such as ADP (Workforce Now preferred), Dayforce, Workday, SAP, or similar.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
