Who is the Employer?

The Raise has partnered with our client, an innovative technology organization undergoing significant modernization and digital transformation initiatives. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a highly skilled Integration and Data Migration Specialist to support the analysis, design, development, and execution of project-specific data integration and one-time data migration activities. In this position, the role is responsible for successfully transferring data from legacy/source systems into modern destination platforms for dedicated project rollouts, followed by providing post-go-live support to resolve subsequent data-related issues.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on data professional who enjoys solving complex data challenges, working with modern database technologies, and leveraging emerging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering productivity.

Who Are You?

You are a highly analytical and technically strong Integration and Data Migration Specialist who thrives on understanding complex data ecosystems and transforming legacy data into modern, scalable platforms.

You have extensive experience working with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases and are comfortable investigating source systems, analyzing database schemas, understanding business rules, and building reliable migration solutions. You can think like both a Database Administrator and a Software Developer, combining technical expertise with strong problem-solving skills.

You are also comfortable using modern AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar technologies to improve productivity while applying sound engineering judgment to ensure accuracy, security, and reliability.

What You'll Be Doing

This position requires strong hands-on experience with Java and SQL (Oracle and PostgreSQL). The role demands the capability to read existing source data repositories, comprehend complex database schemas, analyze data relationships, build reliable integration paths, and develop robust, compiled migration scripts and applications. Candidates with strong Linux shell environment and scripting experience are highly preferred to manage file systems and automate execution tasks.

The ideal candidate possesses a robust background in software engineering with a strong emphasis on Java POJO and data manipulation frameworks, database development, DBA concepts, stored procedures, and data validation. In addition, proficiency with modern agentic AI development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar GenAI coding assistants is required to improve productivity, automate repetitive analysis, and accelerate code development.

As an Integration and  Data Migration Specialist, you will support the analysis, design, development, testing, and execution of data migration activities from legacy systems into modern target platforms.

Practically speaking, you will:

Collaborate with engineering, product, and project teams to define data integration requirements and establish project-specific migration paths.

Analyze legacy and active source data repositories to identify database structures, table relationships, constraints, indexes, data quality issues, and migration dependencies.

Design and implement project-specific integration logic and one-time migration scripts to convert source data into target destination formats.

Develop and maintain core data logic, standalone conversion utilities, and migration tools utilizing Java, SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL functions/procedures.

Utilize Linux shell scripting (e.g., Bash) to handle large data file manipulations, automate server-side Java application execution tasks, and manage cron jobs or environment paths.

Build repeatable, verifiable, and auditable migration workflows, including batch extraction, transformation, loading, validation, rollback, and final reconciliation.

Perform complex data mapping between diverse source and target systems, thoroughly documenting transformation rules, mapping logic, and project assumptions.

Optimize execution performance for large datasets using database tuning, indexing strategies, batching, and transaction management during designated migration windows.

Validate data integrity through rigorous reconciliation reports, automated quality checks, and exception handling protocols prior to system cutover.

Provide hypercare and dedicated post-go-live support, troubleshooting data mismatches, missing fields, or functional database and Java application issues discovered following system deployment.

GenAI & Agentic Engineering Responsibilities-

The successful candidate will be comfortable leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools as part of their daily workflow.
