Job Overview:

  • The Engineering Analyst supports data governance, asset information management, and engineering drawing migration initiatives within the Data and Systems Strategy department. Reporting to Asset Information Management (AIM), this role is responsible for ensuring asset-related information is accurate, complete, governed, and easily accessible across the organization.
  • This position plays a critical role in the migration, remediation, and governance of a large portfolio of engineering drawings and associated asset records. The successful candidate will support the profiling, classification, validation, and quality improvement of engineering information while helping maintain structured hierarchy models and metadata standards. Through collaboration with Engineering, Operations, AIM teams, and external service providers, the Engineering Analyst II will contribute to strengthening information governance practices, improving data quality, and enabling efficient access to reliable asset information throughout its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning, execution, validation, and reporting of large-scale engineering drawing migration and remediation initiatives.
  • Inventory, profile, and assess engineering drawing repositories to identify metadata deficiencies, hierarchy inconsistencies, classification gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform metadata remediation, cleansing, standardization, and correction activities to enhance data quality, governance compliance, and searchability.
  • Execute data profiling and quality assessments to identify gaps, inconsistencies, duplicate records, missing metadata, and classification issues within Asset Information Management (AIM) repositories.
  • Validate migrated engineering drawings and asset information to ensure accuracy, completeness, integrity, and adherence to established governance standards.
  • Participate in testing and validation activities to improve the usability, accessibility, and search performance of engineering information systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Drafting, Operations, Asset Information Management, Technical Information Systems, and external service providers to support information governance objectives.
  • Facilitate discussions and coordinate resolution efforts related to hierarchy structures, metadata standards, classification models, and data mapping requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of asset information turnover and governance processes across Operations, Engineering, and Project teams.
  • Monitor and report on migration progress, data quality metrics, remediation activities, and governance compliance outcomes.
  • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of asset information standards, governance frameworks, and best practices.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities that enhance the quality, consistency, and timely delivery of asset and engineering information.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in data governance, data management, asset information management, or a related field within the energy sector.
  • Working knowledge of data governance principles, frameworks, and data quality management practices.
  • Familiarity with pipeline industry standards, asset information requirements, and data management best practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to manage complex datasets and information structures.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts and requirements for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, Asset Information Management, Drafting, Technical Information Systems, compliance teams, and external service providers.

Preferred:

  • Experience with pipeline asset management systems, GIS platforms, engineering document management systems, or similar enterprise information repositories.
  • Proficiency in reporting, analysis, and data visualization tools, including Power BI.
  • Experience administering or managing SharePoint environments and developing solutions using Power Apps, including forms and workflow automation.
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) principles and their application within asset-intensive organizations.
  • Understanding of engineering drawing management, metadata standards, document control practices, and structured asset hierarchies.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality data within safety-critical infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify root causes of data quality issues and implement effective remediation strategies.
  • Experience supporting digital transformation, information governance, or asset data improvement initiatives is considered an asset.
