Job Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Designer to support Engineering and Operations teams by developing, updating, and maintaining accurate technical drawings for pipeline and facility assets. This role requires a strong drafting background within the oil and gas industry, along with the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines and transform field information, engineering concepts, and project requirements into high-quality design documentation.
  • The successful candidate will possess strong technical drafting expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-project environment while ensuring compliance with company and industry drafting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, revise, and maintain engineering drawings across mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and structural disciplines.
  • Convert engineering concepts, project deliverables, and field redlines into precise CAD drawings and technical documentation.
  • Review and incorporate site markups, as-built information, field sketches, photographs, and project data into final drawing packages.
  • Ensure drawings comply with established drafting standards, design requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
  • Prepare and support the issuance of construction drawing packages and final as-built documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, field personnel, and external stakeholders to ensure design accuracy and project alignment.
  • Maintain drawing control processes, including revision management, document tracking, and record integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support multiple concurrent projects while meeting quality, schedule, and deliverable requirements.
  • Identify and resolve drawing discrepancies by interpreting incomplete, evolving, or conflicting project information.
  • Contribute to the accuracy of process safety information and overall project execution quality.

Scope of Work:

  • Support a diverse range of pipeline and facility projects through the development and maintenance of various drawing types.
  • Partner with internal departments and external contractors to deliver consistent, high-quality engineering documentation.
  • Exercise independent judgment to evaluate technical information and resolve drafting issues.
  • Play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of engineering records and project documentation.

Working Relationships:

  • This position collaborates regularly with:
    • Engineering Drawing teams to coordinate project deliverables and drafting activities.
    • Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams to clarify design intent and field conditions.
    • Asset Information Management, Process Safety Information (PSI), and Engineering Records teams to ensure documentation accuracy and standards compliance.
    • External EPC contractors, vendors, consultants, and drafting service providers to support project execution and deliverables.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum 5+ years of drafting and design experience within the oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and structural design.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Revit or other design software is considered an asset.
  • Experience developing and updating P&IDs, plot plans, facility layouts, equipment drawings, and related engineering documentation.
  • Strong ability to interpret field redlines, site photographs, technical specifications, and project documents.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within distributed and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with drawing management systems and drafting standards in large industrial or energy environments.
  • Familiarity with pipeline and facility operations, maintenance practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation systems, control systems, equipment tagging, and engineering drawing conventions.
  • Experience supporting brownfield and greenfield capital projects.
  • Understanding of document control processes, as-built documentation, and engineering record management.
