Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Cybersecurity Risk Assessor in this role will be responsible for protecting critical information infrastructure, ensure compliance with cyber security regulations, and support risk-based decisions.
The primary focus of this role is conducting comprehensive enterprise and project cybersecurity risk assessments, engaging stakeholders, and communicating cyber risks effectively. Secondary responsibilities include executing hands-on security and penetration testing using tools such as Kali Linux, Burp Suite, and Tenable.
Responsibilities
- Cyber Risk Assessments & Advisory: Lead enterprise and project-level cybersecurity risk assessments, evaluating security architectures, network designs, and operational workflows to identify vulnerabilities and determine remediation options.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Decision Support: Collaborate closely with project managers, IT teams, and business units to define security requirements, embed best practices, and guide risk-based decision-making.
- Security & Penetration Testing: Conduct periodic technical security evaluations, vulnerability assessments, and web application penetration testing using industry-standard tools (e.g., Kali Linux, Burp Suite, Tenable).
- Compliance & Governance: Support compliance sustainment activities aligned with NERC CIP, ISO 27001/2, NIST standards, and BC FIPPA regulations, preparing audit-supporting documentation and detailed compliance reports.
- Incident Support & Remediation: Assist in the analysis of security test results, validate baseline configurations for operating systems and network tools, and contribute to incident response documentation when required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of working experience in Information Technology, with at least 5 years dedicated to cyber security or an equivalent domain.
- Hands-on proficiency with penetration testing and vulnerability scanning utilities (Kali Linux, Burp Suite, Tenable, Wireshark, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, network architecture, SIEM log management, firewalls (NGFW/WAF), IAM solutions, and encryption protocols.
- Familiarity with NERC CIP, NIST, ISO 27001/2, COBIT, and BC FIPPA guidelines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding written and verbal communication skills tailored for a professional corporate environment.
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Preferred Certifications
- Professional certifications in one or more of the following areas:
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified in Risk Information Systems Control (CRISC)
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
- GIAC Certified Penetration Tester (GPEN)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance for a Security Sensitive Position classification.
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
