Manufacturing Engineer 3 (Chief Operating Officer)

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the designated 1st Class Chief Engineer for the site and ensure plant utility and powerhouse operations are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and operating requirements.
- Provide daily leadership and direction for powerhouse and facilities personnel, including communication with shift engineers and review of operating logbooks.
- Oversee plant operations and maintenance activities, including review and prioritization of maintenance work and management of MAXIMO work orders.
- Coordinate daily operating reviews, start-of-shift meetings, SPQRCE reviews, and other routine operational meetings to maintain alignment on safety, quality, responsiveness, cost, and environmental performance.
- Support incident review, safety observation activity, housekeeping standards, and continuous development of GMS practices within the powerhouse/facilities area.
- Prepare schedules, support overtime planning, manage training coordination, and provide direction to team members to ensure adequate operational coverage and capability.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support repairs, maintenance planning, materials procurement, and documentation control.
- Complete administrative responsibilities including timekeeping, planning, purchase requisitions, documentation, and communication follow-up.
- Identify and implement operational improvements that enhance reliability, compliance, efficiency, and overall plant support capability.
Required Qualifications
- Valid 1st Class Chief Engineer certification appropriate for the site’s operating requirements.
- Strong knowledge of plant utility, powerhouse, maintenance, and safe operating practices.
- Experience leading plant operations, maintenance coordination, and contractor/stakeholder communication in an industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of GMS, safety processes, standard work, and continuous improvement methods.
- Proficiency with plant systems and business tools such as MAXIMO, SAP/material processes, Microsoft Office, and electronic communications.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing or large industrial utility environment.
- Experience supervising or directing shift-based operations teams.
- Familiarity with timekeeping, maintenance planning, procurement support, and structured daily management systems.
