Junior Server Administrator (Windows)

  • Pay Rate: $30 – $35/hour (on W2)
  • Contract Length: 12 months with possible extension
  • Location: Spring, TX 77389

Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Overview

You’re the first point of contact for a server team that supports process control systems at more than 70 truck terminals and other sites around the world. You own day-to-day access and triage work, which frees the engineers to focus on a multi-year infrastructure project. You keep requests moving, spot what’s urgent, and get the right people involved fast. In your first six months, you learn the sites, the contacts, and the core tasks well. From there, the role can grow toward server engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Manage user access in Active Directory. You create accounts, reset passwords, and update group memberships.
  • Watch the team’s shared inbox and ticket queue. Respond to requests and route each one to the right person.
  • Triage incoming issues, judge how serious they are, and escalate to engineers when needed.
  • Join SWAT calls and outage bridges during business hours, about one or two a week. You find the right local contacts and keep teams focused on the fix.
  • Handle minor server fixes and routine maintenance on Windows servers, such as scheduling and checking patches.
  • Create and track change requests that follow the team’s change management steps.
  • Coordinate with teams around the world, including a partner team in Kuala Lumpur.
  • Keep documentation current, including procedures, knowledge articles, and lessons learned.
  • Support data cleanup work, including configuration management database (CMDB) records, SharePoint sites, and software license tracking.

Required Qualifications

  • Basic Active Directory skills for accounts, passwords, and groups. Coursework counts.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server
  • Hands-on IT experience in help desk, desktop support, or server administration
  • Experience working tickets in any ticketing system
  • Clear written and spoken communication, and comfort working with teams in other time zones
  • Strong organization when you’re handling several requests at once
  • Ability to work onsite full time in Spring, TX

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to two years in a similar support or admin role
  • Linux experience
  • VMware or Nutanix experience
  • ServiceNow experience
  • SharePoint administration
  • CMDB or data governance experience
  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working
