Raise is currently hiring a Geologist team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Description

Seeking an experienced Contract Geologist to join the CHO Saskatchewan Geoscience team. In this role, you will support the evaluation and development of opportunities across the Conventional Heavy Oil asset. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll advance projects through internal approval processes, identify value-enhancing land acquisition opportunities, and assess projects for the application of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques such as CO₂ injection, waterflooding, and polymer flooding to extend asset life and maximize portfolio value.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct geological evaluations using core data, well logs, drilling, and production information.
  • Provide insights and technical recommendations to define project strategies.
  • Prepare and present geological findings and project recommendations to leadership.
  • Evaluate open Crown, freehold, and industry-held land for potential acquisition or divestiture.
  • Collaborate closely with geophysicists, development engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve Geoscience goals and optimize workflows.
  • Contribute to Long Range Planning (LRP) and annual budgeting processes.
  • Support multiple Saskatchewan assets by ensuring high-quality geological outputs to guide drilling, land, and seismic strategies.
  • Participate in well planning and placement, IWP well proposals, and horizontal well design.
  • Apply learnings from recent data and drill results to guide ongoing development and future planning.
  • Stay informed on academic advancements and industry best practices to continuously improve geoscience methodologies.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project economics and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology.
  • 8+ years of related industry experience.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA or another provincial professional geoscience organization.
  • Proficient in geological mapping, interpretation, and subsurface data analysis.
  • Proficiency with geoscience software tools such as Geographix, AccuMap, GeoScout, and Petrel.
  • Strong understanding of clastic depositional systems and sequence stratigraphy, ideally with experience in Mannville Group stratigraphy.
  • Experience with project management or asset development preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a diverse, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and technical communication.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
