Fire Alarm Technician Health/Safety Coordinator

  • Schedule Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Benefits: Fully Company Paid Benefits, Pension Plan and Bonus.
  • Salary Range: $65,000 – $74,000

Raise Workforce has partnered with a well-established company that has been a pioneer in waxes for the past 75 years. They have an extensive list of products and applications – anything from cosmetics to building and construction materials.

As our new Fire Alarm Technician Health/Safety Coordinator, you will be working with a fairly complex fire suppression system and working under the Environmental Health and Safety Manager. This would be an ideal role for someone with service experience and looking to transition their role, or for someone that has their certifications and ready to put them to use.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working in a heavy industrial environment that includes a refinery
  • Oversee routine maintenance, checks, and troubleshooting of the foam fire suppression system.
  • Serve as a subject matter source for questions regarding workplace conditions and compliance with regulatory safety requirements and the company’s safety rules
  • Address unsafe acts, conditions, or noncompliance issues promptly.
  • Keep management informed of problem areas and conduct incident investigations.
  • Handle paperwork, including Hot Work permits, and provide safety training to employees and coaching to improve behaviour.
  • Administer health and safety programs and maintain safety records and documentation.
  • Respond to alarms and take short-term actions, such as resetting devices or temporarily taking them offline until they can be repaired.
  • Conduct fire drills and supervise fire safety activities.
  • Maintain safety documentation and perform monthly safety checks.
  • Coordinate with contractors for fire safety tasks and oversee contractors when they are on-site.
  • Assess and take short-term action when an alarm malfunctions, such as resetting a device or taking it offline, until it can be repaired or replaced.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an industrial environment
  • CFAA Fire Alarm Technician Certification (required)
  • 2+ years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician (preferred).
  • College diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to influence others to follow safety rules and regulations
  • Strong problem-solving and emergency response skills.
  • Highly motivated with service and team-oriented mindset with an attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of fire safety technology and current practices.
  • Knowledge of health and environmental management and recycling protocols.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 is also an asset.
