DataOps/Cloud Data Engineer – Senior
Pay Rate: (flexible)
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Contract Length: 12 Months, Hybrid

Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to develop fit-for-purpose data products.
· Write and manage code for data masking, cohort creation, and patient identification algorithms.
· Design and build analytics-ready data tables for specific use cases.
· Optimize large datasets for performance processing and querying.
· Work with diverse domain data assets and formats.
· Partner with Data Architecture, ETL, and IT Operations to support sandboxes and operationalize data assets.
· Apply modern data engineering practices for consistency, scalability, and reliability.
· Communicate technical approaches and insights to stakeholders at all skill levels.
· Make sound decisions when navigating complex or ambiguous data engineering issues.
Desired skills:
· Familiarity with SAS and Informatica ETL tool
· Ontario Healthcare data privacy standards and policies
· Familiarity with Microsoft Azure product line
· Familiarity with Federal and provincial health care data
Required skills:
· Good documenting skills for technical approaches
· Communicating effectively with stakeholders of varying technical expertise, and
· Applying modern data engineering practices to ensure consistency, reliability, and timely delivery of high-quality data assets.
Evaluation Criteria:
· 5+ years of experience in using SQL, Database design and Python. : 35 Points
· Experience working with relational databases, including writing SQL queries.: 35 Points
· Communication and stakeholder engagement skills.: 20 Points
· Experience applying modern data engineering practices.: 10 Points
Total evaluation criteria: 100 Points
Deliverables
Deliverables Include, but are not limited to:
· Reusable data transformation and data provisioning scripts
· Analytics-ready data and information assets
· Cohort creation and patient matching algorithms
· Optimized SQL views and performance-tuned data structures
· Technical documentation: data dictionaries, lineage diagrams, architecture notes, data information sheets, data and Information assets catalogue
· Environment setup, optimization and support
· Reports and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Must haves:
· 5+ years of experience in using SQL, Database design and Python.
· Working knowledge of PowerBI
