  • Location: Burnaby BC; Hybrid in office 2 days per week

Raise is currently hiring a IT Network & Security Tools Support team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.

Description

The IT Network & Security Tools Support monitors and maintains network and security tools in various environments and provides ongoing security guidance to support business operations in achieving BC Hydro’s organizational objectives. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain network and security tools in various environments such as ArcSight ESM, SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Rugged NMS Alcatel SAM/CPAM, Service Portal Express, and Splunk Enterprise by completing efficient sustainment activities within the allotted time, executing bug fixes, troubleshooting issues, documenting root cause analysis, and updating standard operating procedures to support business operations in achieving BC Hydro’s organizational objectives. 
  • Administer support activities in Cariden Mate Design Collector by managing and troubleshooting user access and metadata security to keep the integrity of BC Hydro information. 
  • Collaborate with the business, vendors, and team members to assist in identifying, prioritizing, investigating, troubleshoot, and resolving security events and alerts while providing timely status updates to the solution lead on all work requests. 
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives related to network and security tools and technologies such as version upgrades and enhancements as needed to continuously produce high quality and sustainable solutions at BC Hydro. 
  • Create technical documents involving requirements, designs, as built, and procedures as well as provide NERC administrative documentation support to contribute to the standardization of security processes at BC Hydro. 
  • Continuously improve the efficiency of network and security environments by identifying opportunities, presenting feasible technical options and recommendations on enhancements, following best industry practices, maintaining awareness of technological developments, and researching hardware and software products to ensure innovative, reliable, and quality technology solutions. 
  • Provide ongoing guidance and technical expertise regarding the components, functions, and operations of various network and security environments to users, customers, partner resources, and multiple sustainment teams to continuously build capability at BC Hydro. 

Key Deliverables:

  • Plan and schedule security patching activities across multiple generating stations, balancing operational priorities.
  • Monitor and manage software security updates
  • Conduct security patch testing and document test results
  • Provide support to field teams for completing cyber-security compliance patch related activities
  • Work closely with IT to design and implement patching strategies.
  • Collaborate with NERC Compliance team to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Education and Skills: 

  • 4+ years of working experience in IT security supporting the environments listed under Education and Skills, supplemented with relevant product training, or equivalent. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent 
  • Excellent technical skills in the following areas: 
    • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 
    • Cisco IOS, ASA
    • SNMP 
    • Scripting (Perl, Shell) 
    • Microsoft Active Directory 
  • Excellent technical skills in advanced network and systems technologies including firewalls, IPSEC, SNMPv3, Syslog, AAA, and TCP/IP Routing 
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, and Access) 
  • Excellent communication skills for professional environment, written and spoken

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage complex schedules and coordinate across multiple sites.
  • Experience with Windows OS, Linux, Cisco patching and Windows administration.
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP standards is not required but understanding the regulatory environment is essential.
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel.
