Senior project Controller
- Pay Rate: $58.37/hour on W2
- Contract Length: 24 months with possible extension and conversion
- Location: Houston, TX 77002 (Onsite)

Overview
- The Senior Project Controller provides project management support in project initiation, cost management, change management, progress measurement, reporting, and closeout.
- This role collaborates closely with project managers to develop and review project plans, estimates, schedules, risks, and contractual requirements.
- Responsibilities also include implementing project control procedures and gathering, analyzing, and reporting project data across engineering, procurement, construction, and accounting teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop project control’s organizational structure and staffing worksheets.
- Maintain full understanding of overall project scope.
- Provide input into estimates and map to the control WBS.
- Set up control WBS and budgets within SAP.
- Communicate WBS structure to scheduling and contractors.
- Develop and maintain project controls plans across key areas.
- Review documentation during assurance reviews and provide feedback.
- Review project schedules, input data, and maintain key milestone lists.
- Support estimators and schedulers on baseline development.
- Ensure appropriate AFE funding.
- Update project time-phasing for budgets and estimates to complete.
- Create requisitions for project materials and services.
- Report incurred costs and explained variances.
- Monitor cost and commitments vs. budget and forecast.
- Update cost management system with time-phased data, progress, and trends.
- Review invoices for alignment with incurred costs.
- Analyze variances from RFP to contract award estimates.
- Review contractor costs and progress; contribute to estimate at completion.
- Apply Earned Value Management and progress measurement methodologies.
- Define rules of credit with suppliers and contractors.
- Track performance metrics and identify pending trends.
- Recommend allowances for unknowns, escalation, and contingency.
- Maintain trend log, review contract changes orders.
- Participate in HRIM and QRA meetings, update budgets and forecasts.
- Collaborate with project management, engineering, construction, and procurement teams.
- Review monthly reporting packages; provide recommendations and projections.
- Support intermediate and junior project controls personnel.
- Deliver project presentations to senior management as needed.
- Complete all administrative, financial, and system closeout activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 8–15 years of related experience.
- Oil & Gas industry experience (required).
- SAP experience, specifically in Requisitions, POs, Invoices, and Accruals (required).
