Specialist Project Engineer – Transmission Lines
- Pay Rate: $102.50 hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 1 Year

Raise is currently hiring aSpecialist Project Engineer – Transmission Lines on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Project Engineer Specialist Consultant who will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that project designs are safe, effective, and meet the requirements of the organization
Responsibilities
- Core Responsibilities & Technical Excellence
- Engineering Solutions: Develop safe, initiative-driven engineering designs and resolve complex problems by interpreting technical specifications for major projects and operations.
- Technical Problem Solving: Conduct independent studies and analyses to resolve highly technical or unusual field engineering issues, exercising expert judgment to ensure successful project completion.
- Advanced Decision Making: Establish design bases, criteria, and concepts for complex technical assignments, while advising on the management of engineering and geoscience resources.
- Project Management & Operations
- Performance Metrics: Ensure all safety, cost, quality, and scheduling objectives are met by managing plans, estimating costs, and providing progress reports.
- Contractor Oversight: Recommend payments for completed contractor work and coordinate complex work schedules to keep operations on track.
- Customer Service & Scope: Define the scope of services with stakeholders, establish basic design criteria, and approve technical documentation to ensure delivery is on time and within budget.
- Professional Leadership & Standards
- Practice Development: Contribute to the evolution of ’s engineering standards and practices through independent research and method development.
- Mentorship: Provide high-level guidance and technical advice to other engineering professionals to build future capability within the organization
Qualifications
- 10 years of transmission engineering experience including significant time working in the electrical utility industry, and a degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as structural, mechanical, or civil.
- Site experience on large construction projects such as hydroelectric stations, substations or transmission lines is an asset.
- 4 years of working experience in leading multi-discipline design teams and in transmission line planning, design, and construction
- Able to understand the impact of the project on the transmission system and
- operations, and to understand the interactions and priorities required to deliver multi-discipline projects.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, including writing, are required in order to advance the project, including coordinating and influencing various parties both within the organizations and with external delivery partners and stakeholders.
- Experience managing Owner’s reviews of multi-discipline engineering work being completed externally is an asset.
- Experience with telecom and/ or protection and control projects is an asset. Experience with transmission lines projects is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of project delivery processes and design practice is an asset.
- Class 5 drivers license required
- Solid electric utility engineering background with the ability to think from a transmission system and operations perspective as well as an ability to understand the interactions and priorities of multi-discipline projects
- God working knowledge project management principles and roles
- Good working knowledge of design, substations, protection, control, and telecom systems, an asset
- Education and Skills
- P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
- Good understanding of Project Management processes.
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
