Direct Hire – Pipeline Engineer
- Pay Rate: $130,000 Annually
- Location: Gastonia, NC 28056 or Cary, NC 27513 (Hybrid)

Overview
- Client’s Gas North Carolina is seeking an Engineer III to join our Engineering Technical Services team—a technical center of excellence dedicated to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient natural gas systems across the state.
- In this role, you will help shape and maintain engineering standards, support complex projects, and deliver innovative solutions that optimize operations and enhance system integrity.

Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering and design solutions in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to operations teams on engineering-related issues.
- Lead and deliver engineering assessments, capital projects, and maintenance project designs.
- Support and lead engineering tasks for integration initiatives within the team and across the business, including specification and standards management programs.
- Coordinate with operations and construction stakeholders to ensure alignment on design requirements and reviews.
- Actively participate in risk assessments and asset management review sessions.
- Contribute to industry activities to maintain the company’s leadership position.
- Lead responses to stakeholder requests for changes and ensure timely resolution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including Gas Control, Regional Operations, Construction, and other engineering teams.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of direct experience in engineering design with a specific focus on electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical or other applicable discipline.
- 4+years of experience in engineering design, standards development, and frontline operations technical support within manufacturing, energy, consulting or similar industries.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standard including DOT PHMSA regulations, API, ASME and other codes and standards related to the provision of engineering services.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder skills – both written and verbal to internal and external audiences.
- Facilitation, project management and analytical skills with the ability to establish good working relationships and communicate/work with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to advanced computer technology skills and able to learn new systems.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the state.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with natural gas transmission and/or distribution, specifically for pipeline and facilities designs and associated packages.
- Specific experience related to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities.
- Previous experience in any of the following: Oil and Gas engineering design, equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Currently hold a Professional Engineering (P.E.) Designation or the ability to obtain one within a designated time.

- Grasping and handling objects.
- Kneeling and reaching above shoulder level.
- Light to moderate lifting (up to 20 pounds)
- Repetitive motions, including typing.
- Extended periods of sitting and occasional standing.
- Visual ability to read screens, detect color coding, and interpret fine print.
- Hearing ability for effective communication.
- Capability to work at a computer for prolonged periods.
