Raise is currently hiring a Mechanical Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.

Description

The Mechanical Engineer, in this role will lead the design, selection, and specification of mechanical systems for industrial processing facilities. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of engineering deliverables—from initial 3D modeling and CAD collaboration to the final signing and sealing of technical documents.

Responsibilities            

  • Engineering Leadership: Act as the Engineer of Record for all issued drawings, data sheets, and construction packages.
  • Design & Specification: Sizing and selection of major mechanical equipment, process pumping systems, tanks, and vessels.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and seal P&IDs, piping isometrics, equipment lists, and Material Take-Offs (MTOs) to support capital cost estimation.
  • Specialized Analysis: Perform hydraulic modeling and piping stress analysis for complex systems, including steam, condensate, and refrigerated piping.
  • Project Support: Work closely with CAD designers to develop 3D models and 2D mechanical general arrangements, sections, and details.
  • Compliance: Ensure all designs meet applicable provincial and national construction codes and standards.

Qualifications

  • 4–9 years (Intermediate) or 10+ years (Senior) in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
  • Previous experience in the Uranium industry is considered a significant asset.
  • Proven track record with process piping design, pumping equipment, and industrial ventilation/HVAC.
  • Hydraulic Modeling: Proficiency in AFT Fathom or similar simulation tools.
  • Stress Analysis: Hands-on experience with CAESAR II for piping stress.
  • CAD Coordination: Experience directing 3D modeling workflows (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or SmartPlant).
  • Ability to produce accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) for procurement.
  • Knowledge of steam/condensate cycles and refrigerated cold temperature systems.
  • Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • P.Eng. Status: Must hold a Professional Engineering designation and be eligible for/registered with APEGS (Saskatchewan) and PEO (Ontario).
  • Ability to translate complex engineering data into clear construction work packages.
