Senior Project Controller
- Pay Rate: $58.37/hour on W2
- Contract Length: 12 months
- Location: Houston, TX 77002 (Onsite)

Overview
- The Senior Project Controller provides comprehensive project management and cost control support across all phases of a project, including initiation, cost management, change management, progress measurement, reporting, and close-out.
- This role partners closely with Project Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, and forecasts while ensuring alignment with cost and schedule objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a full understanding of overall project scope.
- Review project estimates and map costs to the control WBS.
- Set up control WBS and budgets in SAP and Omega PIMS Cost Management tools.
- Communicate control WBS requirements to schedulers and contractors.
- Develop and maintain the project controls plan across all key control areas.
- Review project documentation during assurance reviews and provide feedback.
- Review schedules, maintain key project milestones, and support baseline development.
- Work closely with estimators and schedulers to establish and maintain baselines.
- Ensure projects have appropriate AFE funding.
- Update project time phasing based on schedule and forecast drivers.
- Process requisitions for project materials and services in SAP.
- Complete incurred cost reporting, variance explanations, and accrual bookings.
- Monitor actual and committed costs against budget and forecast.
- Maintain cost management systems with time-phased data, contractor progress, and trends.
- Review project invoices for alignment with incurred costs.
- Analyze estimate variances from RFP through contract award.
- Review contractor cost and progress and provide input to Estimate at Completion (EAC)
- Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles, rules of credit, and progress measurement.
- Define earned value rules of credit with material and service providers.
- Monitor cost performance metrics and identify emerging trends.
- Evaluate and recommend allowances for design uncertainty, escalation, and contingency.
- Maintain project trend logs and review contract change orders.
- Participate in HRIM and QRA meetings, update budgets and forecasts accordingly.
- Interface with project management, engineering, construction, and procurement teams.
- Review monthly reporting packages and provide performance-based projections.
- Provide guidance and support to Intermediate and Junior Project Controls staff.
- Prepare and deliver project presentations to senior management as required.
- Ensure all administrative, financial, and system close-out activities are completed.
Required Qualifications
- University degree
- Minimum of 8 years of related project controls experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP experience
- Experience with large-scale, moderate- to high-risk capital projects
- Field experience (asset)
- Experience across multiple asset types
