Job Overview
Be part of a team of technical champions supporting compressor station operations. As a Sr. Mechanical Technical Advisor, you will provide expert mechanical support, troubleshoot emergent issues, and ensure the safe and reliable operation of compressor stations. This role combines hands-on field work with technical guidance and project support, contributing directly to the efficiency and safety of operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical support and guidance to field mechanical technicians at compressor stations.
- Resolve day-to-day operations and maintenance issues by actively troubleshooting mechanical systems and equipment.
- Monitor maintenance practices to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of facilities according to industry codes, standards, and client procedures.
- Provide training for field technicians and track progress in Technician Qualification and Operator Qualification programs.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies, practices, and procedures.
- Support design review, commissioning, and post-implementation monitoring of compression-related projects.
- Assist in specifying, installing, and evaluating new equipment at field locations.
Qualifications
- Related university degree with six-plus years of experience, or eight-plus years of field operations experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mechanical experience in gas transmission, distribution, or industrial facilities required.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical equipment and practices in the natural gas industry.
- Familiarity with Natural Gas operations is a plus.
- Competent in computer applications, communication, and collaboration.
- Proven experience in mechanical operations and maintenance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Informal leadership experience in a team environment.
- Knowledge of CFR 192 and other relevant codes is advantageous.
Working Conditions
- Combination of office and field work with significant field time to support Area Operations needs.
- Typical travel up to 25%, including extensive driving to field locations.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, noisy environments, and outdoor work conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Grasping, kneeling, lifting up to 20 pounds, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual acuity for screens and fine print, and hearing requirements.
- Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods.
Mental Requirements
- Ability to understand, remember, and apply instructions and complex information.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to explore alternative solutions.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills for short-term planning.
- Decision-making abilities with moderate impact on immediate and surrounding work areas.
- Proficiency in completing routine forms, letters, memoranda, basic reports, and telephone communication.
