The Engineer in this role will play a key part in a short‑term, high‑impact Information Governance initiative to design, build, and implement updates to an enterprise information catalog for our client. Candidates with experience in structuring complex technical information, developing metadata models, and collaborating across engineering, operations, compliance and IT teams will thrive in this assignment. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a systems‑thinking mindset, and the ability to translate engineering knowledge into organized, searchable, and sustainable information assets. This project offers a unique opportunity to shape how the organizations manages and leverages its technical information, enabling improved decision‑making, operational efficiency, and long‑term knowledge stewardship
Responsibilities
- 1. Information Governance & Catalog Design
- Design & Implementation: Lead the updates to the enterprise information catalog, ensuring technical assets are categorized for maximum searchability and sustainability.
- Metadata Modeling: Develop and refine metadata models that capture the nuances of distribution engineering structures and equipment.
- Systems Thinking: Apply a holistic approach to how information flows between Engineering, Operations, Compliance, and IT departments.
- Knowledge Stewardship: Translate raw engineering data into structured information assets that improve corporate decision-making.
- 2. Technical Standards & CAD Integration
- Standards Development: Support the creation and revision of high-precision engineering drawings for Overhead and Underground Distribution Systems.
- Multi-Platform Drafting: Utilize AutoCAD, Inventor, Microstation, and Solidworks to create 2D and 3D graphical representations of utility equipment.
- Revenue Metering: Create and update Metering One-Line drawings for large-scale customer revenue projects.
- Vendor Liaison: Prepare and package drafting work for external vendor tendering, ensuring all technical requirements are clearly defined.
Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in a relevant engineering field Distribution Standards (Overhead and Underground systems), understanding of electrical utility infrastructure
- Experience designing, building, or implementing updates to information catalogs
- Data Architecture experience ability to structure complex technical information and develop metadata models.
- Extensive experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Microstation, and Solidworks.
- A strong background in 3D modeling for industrial or utility applications.
- Experience performing computer-aided standards drafting, ideally within a utility or heavy industrial environment.
- Demonstrated success working across Engineering, IT, and Compliance teams.
- Nice‑to‑Haves
- Experience contributing to short‑term, high‑impact information governance initiatives
- Background in improving enterprise information catalog usability or organization
- Experience supporting improved decision‑making, operational efficiency, or knowledge stewardship through information structure
- Education and Certifications
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical) or a related technical discipline.
- P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
Additional Information
- Candidates in this role will be working a hybrid schedule of at lease 1 day in the office
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
