Raise is currently hiring a Site Engineering – Commissioning Coordination on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.

Description

As a Site Engineering Commissioning Coordinator, you will be the technical bridge between design and reality for ’s vital infrastructure projects in the Campbell River region. You will lead the development of multi-disciplinary commissioning plans, ensuring that every outage, resource, and technical document is aligned for flawless execution.

This role is "boots on the ground," requiring a blend of high-level project management and deep technical expertise in Protection and Control (P&C) and electrical equipment. You will act as the primary problem-solver when field challenges arise, bringing contractors and engineers together to keep projects on schedule and compliant with engineering standards.

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning Leadership & Planning
    • Develop and gather comprehensive, multi-disciplinary Commissioning Test Plans and summaries of requirements.
    • Coordinate outages, personnel, and logistics to execute the test program for Campbell River projects.
    • Manage special testing requirements and operating procedures for integrated systems.
  • Technical Field Engineering
    • Oversee technical aspects of field engineering for the installation of switchgear, reactive equipment (power transformers), electrical protection, unit control/monitoring, communication networks, and instrumentation.
    • Act as the Professional of Record (POR) delegate for field reviews, managing witness and hold points for critical components.
    • Provide direct support to Field Testers and CPC (Communications, Protection, and Control) field technologists.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
    • Perform first-level QA to ensure work aligns with plans, specifications, and industry standards.
    • Prepare, review, and accept Inspection Test Plans for both Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
    • Synthesize technical data (Redlines, RFIs, NCRs) into comprehensive construction reports that document the "construction story."
  • Project Management & Collaboration
    • Liaise between design engineering and construction teams to resolve non-compliance issues and technical queries.
    • Manage project resources, estimating, cost control, and general project administration.
    • Facilitate consensus among stakeholders to find value-added engineering solutions.

Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience with high-voltage equipment like switchgear, transformers, and reactive equipment.
  • Knowledge of P&C testing and commissioning best practices, experience working in a field environment, and experience in fault analysis and investigations is required.

  • Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field
  • P.Eng, and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
  •  Must maintain a valid OFA Level 1 certification for the duration of employment.

Additional Information 

  • Candidates in this role must be willing to work onsite at least two days per week, with flexibility to increase to up to five days per week during commissioning periods.
  • Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
  • Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
