Overview
- Our client is looking for a Cost Control Specialist responsible for providing cost management support to project management teams.
- This role involves daily and weekly cost tracking, invoice review, cost control, variance analysis, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- The position requires travel to other offices, requiring a valid driver's abstract.
Responsibilities
- Track and reconcile project costs daily and weekly based on source documents following established System Improvement processes.
- Review, code, and track invoices for accuracy and correct cost allocation to the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Update project cost tracker using multiple sources such as Oracle/SAP, invoices, purchase orders, and vendor emails.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in billed project costs, collaborating with the project management team, Finance, Third Parties, and other stakeholders.
- Perform monthly accruals and affiliate billing as needed.
- Organize and document weekly Project Controls meetings, including taking meeting minutes.
- Provide cost control support, variance analysis, and reporting for complex, multi-disciplined System Improvement projects.
- Prepare reports and presentations to inform stakeholders and project management team members about project budget status.
- Track Scope Changes and manage the change log effectively.
- Implement client-sanctioned cost control processes in project activities, closely working with Finance and project stakeholders for cost-related matters.
- Capture relevant project information to support benchmarking activities.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders regularly.
- Support project organization by innovatively solving project control challenges and coordinating administrative tasks.
- Provide project management updates to senior management and adapt strategies to meet departmental needs.
- Ensure project teams use sanctioned cost processes in their management activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, field operations experience, or a combination of formal education and experience.
- Thorough understanding of Distribution Operations procedures and policies.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with peers and internal/external customers.
- Proficient in computer software programs, including spreadsheets and word processors.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software, company financial systems, enterprise structure, and standard operating procedures.
- Desired certifications include Project Management Professional designation, AACE certification, and/or Professional Engineering designation.
- Capable of managing and prioritizing workloads efficiently, resolving issues promptly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
