Pay Rate: $19.28/hour on W2
Work Type: Onsite – Indianapolis, IN 46221
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday | 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Post training)
Training Schedule: First 2 Weeks | Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: 2-month contract (with possible extension/conversion)
Job Overview:
* The Scale Attendant is responsible for operating the scale house system, weighing trucks, maintaining accurate records, and providing professional customer service to drivers and visitors.
* This role requires working independently in the scale house and occasionally stepping outside in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate the scale house computer to accurately weigh trucks.
* Monitor inbound and outbound truck activity.
* Maintain records of tickets, manifests, and related documentation.
* Communicate with internal departments and drivers.
* Provide clear, friendly, and professional instructions to visitors and new drivers.
* Accurately read numbers from a distance and input data into the computerized scale system.
* Perform general upkeep of the scale house and surrounding areas.
* Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned.
* Keep supervisor informed of any issues requiring attention.
* Report promptly at the beginning of each scheduled shift.
* Work independently in the scale house during operating hours.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED.
* Strong oral and written English communication skills (CB/Radio/Phone/Internal systems)
* Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
* Ability to read and follow directions
* Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
* Ability to occasionally lift items over 35 lbs.
* Comply with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
* Complete required site safety orientation prior to starting
Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong customer service skills
* Friendly and professional demeanor
* Prior computer system experience
* Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required
