Job Overview
The Project Control Officer/Engineer provides advanced project controls expertise to the PMO, with a primary focus on Primavera P6 schedule management, LOB administration, and portfolio‑wide schedule governance. This role is responsible for driving schedule quality, enabling cross‑project integration, and supporting strategic decision‑making through high‑value analysis and reporting. The Senior PCO acts as a subject‑matter expert and advisor to project teams and PMO leadership.
Primavera P6 Scheduling (Advanced)
- Develop, maintain, and optimize complex Primavera P6 schedules across multiple projects and programs.
- Lead schedule quality assessments, including critical path analysis, float evaluations, baseline validation, and compliance audits.
- Integrate schedules across portfolios to create consolidated roadmaps and milestone views.
- Provide expert guidance on schedule structure, coding, calendars, and PMO standards.
- Oversee and administer the entire P6 Schedule portfolio.
- Ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with project performance indicators through ETL process.
- Identify process improvements and automation opportunities in LOB workflows.
Project Controls Governance & Standards
- Champion schedule management best practices and enforce PMO governance frameworks.
- Lead or support schedule reviews, audits, and readiness assessments for key project gates.
- Maintain and evolve PxMO templates, tools, coding structures, and documentation.
Reporting & Analytics
- Deliver high‑quality schedule and LOB Admin insights for executive presentations and portfolio reviews.
- Produce forecasting, scenario modelling, and time‑impact analyses to support decision‑making.
- Collaborate with cost, risk, and reporting teams to ensure integrated project control outputs.
Stakeholder Leadership & Support
- Act as an advisor to Project Managers, Planners, Directors, and business partners.
- Provide training, mentoring, and guidance to junior PCOs and schedulers.
- Support tool administration, troubleshooting, and coordination of system upgrades or enhancements.
Qualifications
- Requires knowledge of engineering/science encompassing subject area relevant to the project planning, scheduling, risk management, and control service needs of the division.
- Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, including relevant business and computer applications knowledge, to develop and maintain computerized project information, costs and forecasts.
- This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the successful completion of a four-year university education in an appropriate field such as Business, Finance or Engineering, or by having the equivalent level of education.
- PMP certification from PMI or active participation with CII will be an asset. Requires experience to become familiar with project controls principles, theories, and concepts such as project scoping, scheduling and Primavera P6 Administrative work.
- Requires experience of project management within a Nuclear, Hydroelectric or Thermal generating facility within a project management support capacity. Requires experience to become familiar with engineering and construction management concepts, methods and techniques. Requires experience to become familiar with the development and operation of various computerized systems and databases, including ETL process and integration with different systems.
- A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
