Job Overview

The General Accounting & Affiliates Advisor supports the client’s affiliates finance team by performing complex accounting analysis, research, and financial reporting activities. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing reporting schedules that support quarterly and annual external financial filings as well as internal management reporting. The position plays a key role in identifying and resolving accounting issues, supporting compliance requirements, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. The Advisor also collaborates with cross-functional teams across the organization to address accounting matters, provide financial insights, and drive process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex accounting analysis and accounting research in support of the client’s affiliates finance team
  • Prepare and review reporting schedules to support quarterly and annual external financial filings and internal management reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to research, resolve, and communicate accounting matters and solutions
  • Identify, analyze, and escalate potential accounting issues to ensure timely resolution and accurate financial reporting
  • Review contracts prior to execution to assess potential accounting implications
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes as required
  • Analyze complex accounting issues and clearly communicate their impact to management and key stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support the implementation of efficiency initiatives
  • Provide support for ad hoc requests, financial analysis, and special projects as required
  • Ensure internal controls and financial processes are maintained and comply with SOX requirements
  • Ensure affiliate cost recovery processes are followed and ARC compliance requirements are met
  • Support oversight of affiliate operating and capital budgets and forecasts
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable accounting standards, including US GAAP
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial information and analysis while meeting tight reporting deadlines
  • Ensure established financial controls and procedures are consistently followed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) with a minimum of four years of directly related accounting experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines, including occasional overtime as required
  • Experience with financial systems such as Oracle, SAP, and Hyperion SmartView is preferred
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP is preferred
  • Experience in public practice accounting, technical accounting or accounting research, or external financial reporting is considered an asset
