- Pay Rate: $88 – 100/hour, depending on experience

Description
The Senior Business Analyst will play a key role in a critical Core Finance Modernization (FPSL) initiative, supporting the transformation of our client’s financial infrastructure. This role will act as a “Universal Translator” between Finance, Risk, Treasury, Capital Markets, and Technology teams, ensuring alignment across business and technical stakeholders.
The successful candidate will lead business analysis efforts across complex financial systems, translating risk models, accounting policies, and technical system requirements into clear and actionable deliverables. This position requires strong stakeholder engagement at the senior leadership level and the ability to drive clarity and consensus across cross-functional teams during a major transformation program.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Treasury, Capital Markets, and Technology teams to support strategic decision-making and drive project outcomes.
- Lead business analysis activities including requirements gathering, documentation, and validation through interviews, workshops, and stakeholder sessions.
- Translate complex concepts across domains, including risk models, accounting entries, and technical specifications such as APIs, ETL processes, and data schemas.
- Conduct data discovery and “data archeology” efforts to analyze legacy systems and support the development of future-state financial architecture.
- Perform gap analysis to identify differences between current and target operating models and recommend improvements.
- Develop detailed use cases, user stories, functional specifications, and process documentation to support system development.
- Create and maintain a requirements traceability matrix to ensure business, regulatory, and technical requirements are tracked throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with development and QA teams to support testing activities, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Identify potential project risks such as data lineage gaps, accounting logic challenges, and system performance requirements, and work with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of Business Analysis experience, with demonstrated success supporting complex enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Strong domain expertise in Finance, Risk, Treasury, or Capital Markets, ideally within banking or financial services environments.
- Experience supporting financial system transformations or Financial Product Sub-Ledger (FPSL) initiatives is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to work with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive consensus and decision-making.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data flows and business processes.
- Experience documenting technical integrations, APIs, and data flows in collaboration with architecture and engineering teams.
- Proficiency with requirements management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language.
Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or similar Business Analysis certifications are considered an asset.
- Knowledge of accounting standards such as IFRS or GAAP is highly desirable.
- Experience working within Agile or hybrid SDLC environments.
