Raise is currently hiring a Program Manager on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The Program Manager in this role will support the Restructured Energy Market (REM) IT initiative. In collaboration with the Director of Strategy & Corporate Services, who is accountable for the oversight of the REM IT Initiative, this role will be responsible for planning and managing multiple projects and programs within this Initiative. The role is crucial in ensuring that all initiatives align with the strategic objectives of the overall REM program and that IT systems are successfully implemented within the REM IT Initiative. This involves coordinating various cross-functional projects, working closely with other Initiative Program Managers, Delivery leads and business leaders to meticulously plan activities, identify and mitigate risks, and effectively communicate project needs and progress to management. Additionally, in this role the successful candidate will be expected to foster strong relationships across departments, ensuring seamless integration and collaboration to achieve the Initiative’s goals

Responsibilities            

  • Program Planning
  • Develop an overall execution plan for the program.
  • Manage and coordinate the interdependencies between the IT projects and sub-projects to ensure alignment.
  • Collaboration and Coordination
  • Engage with the other program managers and program stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring these are met throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with other program managers, project sponsors, business leaders, cross-functional business teams, project managers, and REM IT Delivery Leads to develop scope, deliverables, resources, work plans, budgets, and timelines for initiatives.
  • Coordinate activities across REM IT projects and to manage delivery on Initiative goals and cross-project dependencies.
  • Liaise with other business leaders in the organization to ensure effective and efficient program delivery.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify and analyze potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Provide quick resolution to issues and support REM IT Delivery leads.
  • Facilitate quick decision-making with IT leadership governance and business governance.
  • Resource and Budget Management:
  • Ensure resources are allocated efficiently across projects to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
  • Manage the program budget.
  • Vendor Management
  • Vendor Performance Management.
  • Program coordination of RFPs.
  • Review of SOWs, MSAs and MSSAs.
  • Monitor and support the vendor implementation plans and vendor resources.
  • Ensure vendor implementation plans are coordinated with internal project plans.
  • Performance Monitoring:
  • Track the progress of program milestones and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion.
  • Integrate risk-based decision-making, prioritization, and delivery of the program to meet commitments related to schedule, scope, quality, and cost.
  • Reporting:
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on program status, defining plans, and issue resolutions to appropriate management levels.
  • Communicate with all key program stakeholders to gain support for the program and solicit input for improvement.
  • Cutover and Transition Management:
  • Support Market Participant readiness activities.
  • Support internal stakeholder readiness activities.
  • Manage cutover activities and transition to production.
  • Develop a comprehensive transition to support plan to ensure effective post-implementation support across REM IT projects and subprojects.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of program management and/or project management experience, preferably in the IT system implementation space.
  • Experience in electricity, utilities, or energy related fields would be preferred.
  • Technical knowledge relating to understanding  mandate, wholesale electricity markets, and regulatory processes is an asset.
  • Leadership skills to motivate teams and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies to ensure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Experience managing multiple cross-functional projects to implement new and complex business lines.
  • Adaptability and resilience to respond to evolving priorities and timelines.
  • Effective communicator with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Education and Certifications
  • A Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
  • PMP designation or equivalent is an asset.
