C&SU Control System Specialist
- Contract Length: 7 Months
- Location: McArthur River Saskatchewan
- Fly In Fly Out Camp accommodations provided
- Rotation (2 weeks in-2 weeks out, 11 hours a day)
- Company Charter Flights provided – Departing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
- Contractors are expected to travel to Saskatoon for chartered flights to camp sites.

They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Description
The C&SU Control System Specialist in this role will be responsible for the programming, testing, and commissioning of industrial control systems across our clients northern operations. This role ensures that all automated systems—including PLC and DCS platforms—are functional, secure, and aligned with engineering designs. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between engineering theory and field execution, ensuring a safe and efficient transition from construction to operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop PLC and DCS programs based on inputs from the engineering team (P&ID’s and control narratives)
- Test, modify and update PLC and DCS programs and verify functionality is as described in the engineering documents and drawings.
- Configure, test, and commission industrial networking devices including switches, firewalls, and interfaces between Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Information Technology (IT) systems.
- Participate in verifying correct functionality of field devices along with other commissioning team members; identify and resolve problems that are caused by PLC/DCS configuration and/or programming.
- Identifying and documenting deficiencies. Provide input and follow up on deficiencies to make sure they are addressed and closed satisfactorily.
- Completing Cameco defined commissioning documentation (e.g., check sheets, ITPs, and test reports).
- Recording final and accurate as-left condition of PLC and DCS configuration and programming on redlines of engineering documents, drawings, and project documentation.
- Participating in commissioning team meetings including, without limitation, daily toolbox, safety, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Support and provide input to development of detailed plans for execution of work.
- Monitoring the schedule and productivity of work and work collaboratively to resolve issues and barriers.
Qualifications
- Intermediate (4-9yrs) Senior (10+yrs) experience with programming, testing, and commissioning of industrial control systems
- Proven track record in a heavy industrial start-up environment (mining, milling, or oil & gas).
- Extensive PLC programming experience with Schneider PLCs and Control Expert (previously Unity Pro)
- Extensive DCS configuration and programming experience with Delta-V system (Key Lake only)
- Experience with Delta-V DCS Historian and connection to OSI PI via OPC-UA (Key Lake only)
- Extensive DCS configuration and programming experience with EcoStruxure Foxboro DCS system (Cigar and McA only)
- Experience with EcoStruxure Foxboro DCS Historian and connection to OSI PI via OPC drivers (Cigar and McA only )
- expert knowledge of industrial instrumentation and industrial data protocols with focus on Modbus TCP/IP and HART
- Extensive experience of Industrial Networking, including configuration of switches, firewalls, and other related hardware
- Strong understanding and adherence to Industrial Cybersecurity best practices
- Experience in Windows server administration including creating and maintaining Virtual Machines in Hyper-V is preferred
Education and Certifications
- Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology or Industrial Instrument Technician or Electrician journeyperson ticket with extensive post-journeyperson experience in automation and controls.
