Description

The Structural Engineer at the Intermediate or Senior level will be responsible for performing comprehensive structural design and analysis for diverse projects across our Northern Saskatchewan and Ontario operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance of our mining and processing facilities.

Responsibilities            

  • Structural Design & Analysis: Lead the design of complex structural systems, including steel framing, reinforced concrete structures, and wood design.
  • Technical Calculations: Perform rigorous structural analysis using STAAD.Pro and develop detailed design calculations using Mathcad and/or Excel.
  • Project Documentation: Develop and revise technical specifications, Scopes of Supply, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Material Take-Offs (MTOs), and Construction Work Packages (CWPs).
  • Design Collaboration: Partner with structural and architectural designers to support the development of 3D models and 2D construction drawings, ensuring all technical details are accurate.
  • Site Support: Provide engineering oversight for site-specific projects, including the design of supports for building services such as pipe racks and cable tray supports.
  • Site Visits: Travel occasionally to the client's Northern Saskatchewan or Ontario sites as required to support project execution and inspections.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering within an industrial, mining, or nuclear environment
  • Proven ability to design for both heavy industrial steel members and complex reinforced concrete.
  • Experience designing specialized supports for building services (pipe racks, cable trays).
  • Deep familiarity with national codes (NBCC, NFCC) and specific standards including CSA N393, CSA S16, CSA A23.1/2, A23.3, and A23.4.
  • Expert-level capability in STAAD.Pro and Mathcad; experience with CAD-based 3D modeling environments.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and site-based stakeholders.

  • Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering
  • P.Eng. Designation with APEGS

  • As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre-access substance testing will be required
