  • Pay Rate: $74.80 – 91.25/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length: 1 year
  • Location: Christina Lake, Alberta  (Camp Fly-In, Fly-Out)

Raise is currently hiring a Heavy Duty Mechanic on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description 

Reporting to the NPI Coordinator, the Heavy-Duty Mechanic position will be an energetic self-starter, providing direct support and assistance to the NPI team, and Business Units, while supporting and demonstrating a strong safety culture and respectful work environment.

Responsibilities             

  • Perform routine and non-routine duties to the fleet of Pick-ups, Light towers, HD trucks, Equipment, Generators, ATV's, UTV's, and various makes, models of support equipment, with direction from the Fleet Coordinator.
  • Complete repair and maintenance of client’s vehicles and equipment.
  • Order parts and receiving as required.
  • Complete internal work orders.
  • Maintain fleet maintenance records.
  • Provide direct supervision to contracted laborers as required.
  • Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
  • Ensure all work is planned to meet or exceed client’s safety policies, standards, and guidelines following STOP-THINK- ACT program.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure that job plans include accurate and current safety and environmental considerations.
  • Report incidents according to protocol and following up with such incidents with corrective and preventative measures.
  • Work closely with client’s Safety Leads and Coordinators.

Qualifications

  • 5 years Journeyman experience with the following product lines is considered an asset; Ford, Kubota, Caterpillar, Detroit, and Cummins.
  • Class 5 driver's license with Air Brake Endorsement is required.
  • Advanced Vehicle Diagnostic and Repair using OEM diagnostic platforms.
  • Advanced Electrical Diagnostic and Repair, Advanced Electronic Systems Diagnostic and Repair, Advanced Hydraulics Diagnostic and Repair experience is required.
  • Proficient in use of service diagnostics troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in use of Vehicle Diagnostic equipment.
  • Proficient in A/C troubleshooting and repair.
  • Must be able to manage day to day operations without direct supervision.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and groups.
  • Education and Skills
  • Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman ticket required – equivalent qualifications would be heavy-duty on-road certification and heavy-duty off-road certification.
  • Journeyman Red Seal is considered an asset.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to foster and promote cooperation and work collaboratively.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work both with a team or independently.
  • Driver’s Abstract • Drug & Alcohol • Fit for work testing. • H2S Alive • First Aid • Confined Space • Gas Detection"

Additional Requirements:

  • This is a Fly-In, Fly-Out position, working on a 7&7 rotation (Wednesday to Wednesday), flying out of Calgary or Edmonton
