Raise is currently hiring a Specialist Project Engineer – Transmission – Lines on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The Specialist Project Engineer acts as a senior technical consultant and lead within cross-functional teams. This role is responsible for ensuring that transmission line designs are safe, effective, and fully integrated with our clients  system requirements. You will resolve highly technical design and field engineering problems while overseeing the quality and safety of medium to high-complexity transmission projects.

Responsibilities            

  • Technical Leadership: Lead multi-discipline design teams in the planning, design, and construction of transmission line infrastructure. Resolve unusual design and field engineering challenges through independent analysis and professional judgment.
  • Design & Standards: Develop innovative engineering solutions and designs.
  • Contribute to the development of technical standards and ensure all documentation meets the Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) requirements.
  • Project Oversight: Manage project objectives by defining engineering scope, establishing design criteria, and approving technical documentation.
  • Recommend changes to plans or costs and assess contractor work progress against specifications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Deliver exceptional service by communicating complex technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and technical advice to other engineering professionals to develop future capabilities within the transmission engineering division.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of engineering experience, with significant time specifically in the electrical utility industry focused on transmission lines.
  • 4 years of experience leading multi-discipline design teams and overseeing transmission line planning and construction.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems, drawing standards, and standard industry design/analysis software.
  • Solid understanding of transmission systems and operations, including interactions between substations, protection, control, and telecom systems.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles, estimating, and quality management services.

  • Preferred Assets
    • Strong knowledge of project delivery processes and design practices.
    • Hands-on experience on large-scale construction sites, such as hydroelectric stations or major transmission corridors.
    • Previous experience acting as a Project Manager on utility-scale infrastructure.
  • Education and Certifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
    • P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired

             

Additional Information

  • Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
  • Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
