Senior Test Lead & QA
- Pay Rate: $84.87/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 5 Months
- Location: Calgary, Alberta
Raise is currently hiring a Senior Test Lead & QA on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is a major Canadian airline.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Technical Test Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing testing activities for finance, payables and receivable systems. This role ensures end-to-end test coverage across technical and business scenarios, working closely with finance, accounting, and business stakeholders to validate system functionality, data integrity, and operational readiness. The Test Lead owns test governance, documentation, execution coordination, and pass/fail decisioning. This role supports Payment Services Optimization project an Integration Program. This project will be two phases and will require the contractor for a term of 6 months.
Responsibilities
- Test Management & Planning
- Define and manage the overall test strategy and test approach for payables and receivables solutions (e.g., AP, AR, GL, payment processing, reconciliation).
- Develop, maintain, and communicate test plans, test schedules, and scope aligned with project milestones.
- Identify testing dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies specific to financial systems.
- Finance & Payables Test Scenarios
- Design and develop test scenarios and test cases covering:
- Accounts payable workflows Invoice processing and approvals
- Payments, settlements, and reversals Tax handling, currency, and rounding
- Posting to general ledger and downstream systems
- Ensure validation of financial controls, audit requirements, and regulatory considerations.
- Coordinate testing of integrations with banks, payment gateways, ERP, and reporting systems.
- Business & Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the primary test liaison between technical teams, finance/payables business teams, vendors, and project leadership.
- Facilitate UAT and business validation testing, ensuring business users understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Lead test walkthroughs, defect triage sessions, and test status reviews.
- Translate business requirements into clear, testable scenarios.
- Test Execution & Defect Management
- Coordinate execution of system, functional, integration, and UAT test cycles.
- Ensure defects are clearly logged, prioritized, tracked, and retested through closure.
- Assess defect impact on finance operations and support go/nogo decisions.
- Test Governance & Documentation
- Own and maintain testing documentation, including:
- Test strategy and test plans Entry and exit criteria
- Pass/fail criteria and acceptance signoff Roles and responsibilities (RACI)
- Test results, metrics, and summaries
- Ensure documentation meets audit, compliance, and internal governance standards.
- Reporting & Quality Assurance
- Provide clear and concise test status reporting, including risks, blockers, and readiness assessments.
- Ensure alignment with broader project delivery and change management activities.
- Drive continuous improvement in testing processes, tools, and standards.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 3–5 years in a Test Lead or Test Manager role.
- Strong experience testing finance or payables systems (ERP, financial platforms, payment solutions).
- Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivables, accounting flows, and financial controls.
- Experience with system integration testing and data validation.
- Proven ability to coordinate and lead cross functional testing efforts.
- Strong documentation skills with attention to detail and audit readiness.
- Experience defining test criteria, pass/fail logic, and signoff processes.
- Comfortable working with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps).
- Familiarity with Agile, hybrid, or waterfall delivery models.
- Understanding of SDLC and release management processes.
- Collaborative, can manage the non technical business stakeholders
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- (nice to have) certifications in ISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation Level or Advanced Test Manager), SAP (FICO), Oracle Financials, or Microsoft Dynamics 36 ect
