Data and Analytics Product Owner Consultant

Raise is currently hiring a Data and Analytics Product Owner Consultant on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Data and Analytics Product Owner Consultant will be accountable for gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing business requirements for large and/or complex IT projects while producing high quality documentation and providing subject matter expertise in one or more key areas to IT teams, business stakeholders, and end-users to contribute to the achievement of BC Hydro’s organizational objectives.
NOTE: Subject matter expertise could be business domain specific or technology specific.
Work Assignment Overview
The Data and Analytics Product Owner consultant is accountable for gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing business requirements for data products. The consultant will liaise with and provide subject matter expertise to IT teams, business stakeholders, and end-users to contribute towards meeting our clients organizational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Produce high quality analysis and documentation such as BC Hydro Governance documents, Process Impact Assessments, Process Maps and Designs and follow through on deliverables with stakeholder engagement, reviews, approvals, and signoffs so that projects are implemented safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and support to other IT BDS Consultants on the project or as part of the BDS function to ensure projects conduct high quality analysis.
- May be asked to lead IT BDS Consultants Level 2 on their project.
- Liaise with internal and external teams / vendors / system integrators on data migration and system interface activities to ensure dependencies are understood, addressed, and requirements are correctly defined, recorded, and communicated using documents such as Business Requirements, Functional and Non-Functional Requirements, Data Requirements, Business Scenarios, Use Cases and User Stories, Requirements Traceability Matrix, Functional Specifications, and User Interface Specifications.
- Assist with testing, including creation of test documentation such as Test Plans, Test Scenarios/Scripts and Test Reports to ensure that the business requirements are met.
- Facilitate and lead collaborative workshops with senior stakeholders, subject matter experts, business and technical stakeholders, and implementation consultants both internal and external to BC Hydro to conduct analysis as part of assigned activities.
- Assist the Project Manager with communicating complex issues or opportunities to project leadership and senior stakeholders, supporting with resolution.
- Provide ongoing clarification and support to the business stakeholders, users, development, training, and testing teams to ensure correct interpretation of the business requirements and process design and to contribute to their success.
- Assist the Project Manager with planning activities for subsequent phases of the project; conduct analysis to inform business case development; contribute to the successful transition to sustainment teams.
- upport viability of solution design, i.e., solution is integrated within future state processes and satisfies business requirements and project objectives.
- Conduct impact analysis on changes to designs / scope, record changes in the change log and communicate to the project team.
- May be required to participate in or lead change management activities and produce documentation, e.g., Stakeholder Impact Analysis, Change Management Approach, and Training Materials to deliver communication to stakeholders during roll-out activities.
- Provide subject matter expertise in one or more key areas such as specific applications or infrastructure technologies, as applicable to continuously build capability at BC Hydro.
- May provide recommendation on improvements in their area of expertise (identifying process improvement opportunities, informing process designs, integrations, etc.)
Qualifications
- 10+ years of BA experience in large-scale IT projects within complex enterprise environments.
- 5+ years as a Team Lead or Lead BA, responsible for overseeing the work of other BAs, providing coaching, and mentoring. Includes the ability to lead others and take ownership of complex issues.
- Demonstrated business acumen and an expert ability to translate business objectives into technology solutions.
- Technical & Project Specialization (Must Haves)
- Data Solutions: 7+ years of end-to-end experience (requirements through support) implementing enterprise data warehouses, lakehouses, and BI solutions.
- Tool Proficiency: 7+ years of experience with data engineering and reporting/analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SAP Analytics Cloud, or equivalent).
- Project Management: 5+ years of project management experience specifically focused on data warehouse/lakehouse implementations.
- Methodology & Soft Skills
- Delivery Frameworks: Minimum 2 years of experience with DevOps or Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills. Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations, build relationships, and influence decisions.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Visio.
- Valued Assets
- Knowledge of Industry & Landscape: Understanding of the public sector or utilities industry, specifically business/technology landscape and Project Delivery Methodology (ITDSP).
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computing science, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent.
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
