Senior Risk and Loss Preventions Engineer

  • Pay Rate: $120.00 – $131.28/hour on W2
  • Contract Length: 12 months
  • Location: Spring, TX 77389 (Onsite)

Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Project Team to coordinate timely completion of studies and assessments
    • Working with project teams to develop and execute the project risk assessment plans which consist of various loss prevention studies, and risk assessments (RA) / HAZOPs)
    • Planning and scheduling studies or risk assessments
    • Identifying RA sponsors and participants
  • Supports Advisor and Project Teams in coordination with EPCs for contractor led/facilitated assessments
    • Provided support for planning and execution of studies
    • Reviewed study Charter or Terms of Reference or safety assumption registers to confirm that they are appropriate for the studies
    • Participated in the reviews, and ensuring that adequate safeguards are in place and appropriate risks have been assigned / estimated (using a Risk Matrix)
    • Reviewed study reports to confirm that the documentation is complete/ adequate
    • Stewarded closure of actions to project team for actions/ recommendations from the contractor-led assessments
  • Develops/ Reviews study charters, carries out reviews and prepares reports
    • Worked with others to define the following for a loss prevention study or RA, that gets included in the study Charter which is appropriately endorsed and approved:
      • Purpose
      • Scope
      • Timing for carrying out study or RA
      • Who needs to get involved (review, approve, endorse)
    • Prepared and/or reviewed study reports that document the risk assessments summary, process, results and conclusions. Report includes executive summary, process followed, risk results summary, actions, risk assessment worksheets, etc.
    • Obtained endorsements and approvals for the reports
  • Follows up with action owners to progress Action Resolution Plan development and endorsement. Stewards and progresses action items to resolution
    • Worked with project teams to identify responsible persons, reviewers, target completion dates for all study follow-up recommended actions
    • Managed the actions from studies and risk assessment that are in the project risk action tracking tool (register) with follow up with people assigned as action responsible person to close out the action timely
  • As needed, facilitates Company led studies/assessments
    • Qualitative risk screening
    • Hazards and concerns brainstorming
    • Risk assessments using a risk matrix (works with RA participants to establish consequence and frequency of the scenario occurring using industry data sets,
    • Company/Industry/team experience/judgment, etc.)
    • Identified safeguards/control measure and mitigating measures

Qualifications

  • Offshore experience, particularly in the subsea area.
    • Familiar with design of an FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading) (topsides and marine) and subsea facilities (risers, flowlines, umbilicals, manifolds, wells)
  • Guideword HAZOP facilitation experience
    • Identifies / defines HAZOP Nodes from P&IDs (PFDs / drawings), understands the roles of facilitator, scribes, participants, (gets team to contribute), produces reports.
    • Has a working knowledge and understanding of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Experience working with ExxonMobil (Upstream)
  • Able to carry out consequence modelling (using DNV PHAST)
    • Set up a dispersion or consequence model (ie: using DNV PHAST).
    • Understands software tool input and assumption requirements (ie: defining weather conditions, setting up the inventory, release scenario, etc.)
  • Also, some domestic and international travel may be required
    • Engineering offices are in US, the Netherlands and Singapore. Person should be able to periodically travel to these locations for days to weeks at a time.
