Description 

The Maintenance Engineer in this role will provide operational, administrative, and coordination support for the execution and management of our in-year maintenance program. Working within a complex utility environment, this role ensures that maintenance work orders, change requests, and associated business processes progress in alignment with operational priorities, fiscal timelines, and regulatory compliance requirements.

The successful candidate will act as a key coordinator, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Planning, Scheduling, Asset Information Services (AIS), Station Field Operations (SFO), Maintenance Engineering, and Program and Contract Management (PCM) teams to support maintenance execution, SAP governance, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Program Coordination & SAP Administration
  • SAP Governance: Process and coordinate SAP maintenance-related activities, including SA01 and SA02 work order administration, phase control, and change requests.
  • Plan Monitoring: Support the execution, monitoring, and tracking of both the annual and in-year maintenance plans.
  • Workflow Optimization: Track Request for Support (RFS) coordination, monitor maintenance order progression, evaluate schedule adherence, and verify completion status.
  • Compliance Tracking: Monitor Final Due Dates (FDD) and track maintenance compliance activities to ensure regulatory and internal standard alignment.
  • Fiscal Management: Support standing order administration and track fiscal year maintenance activities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Coordinate seamlessly with internal groups, including SFO, AIS, Maintenance Engineering, Scheduling, and PCM teams to keep programs moving forward.
  • Engineering Practice Integration: Participate in BC Hydro’s engineering practice by conducting independent studies, interpreting data, and ensuring BC Hydro’s engineering and safety standards are strictly maintained.
  • Risk Management: Collaborate and engage with BC Hydro’s senior engineering team on difficult, complex, or unusual engineering problems to help manage corporate risk.
  • Reporting, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
  • Data Validation: Assist with maintenance reporting, data validation, and regular program status updates for leadership.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in identifying operational issues, process gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement and SAP stabilization efforts.
  • Records Management: Maintain thorough records, technical documentation, and communications regarding all maintenance execution activities.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent utility operations role.
  • Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Direct experience with SAP (specifically asset management or work order administration modules).
  • Previous experience in utility operations, maintenance planning, asset management, or infrastructure-related programs.
  • Experience & Technical Skills
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent utility operations role.
  • Core Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills, with a proven ability to perform in a fast-paced operational environment involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Systems Familiarity: Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with CAD systems, drawing standards, and standard industry design/analysis software.
  • Intermediate to advanced English skills (written and spoken) suitable for a professional corporate environment.
  • Education and Certifications
  • University graduate in Applied Science or Engineering.
  • P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired

Additional Information 

  • Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
  • Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
