Responsibilities:
- Performs as a Clinical Data Conformance & Integration Specialist supporting data adoption (contribution) and integration projects, working directly with Senior Project Managers and Product Teams.
- Provides oversight and HL7 v2 & HL7 FHIR subject matter expertise on Ontario Health data adoption and integration projects, focused on the expert guidance for the review, conformance testing, validation, and implementation of healthcare organizational patient data to Ontario Health clinical data repositories (e.g., ADT data, lab data, clinical data, etc.).
- Leverages HL7 v2 & FHIR data standards expertise, clinical expertise and HL7 health information exchange standards experience to successfully evaluate and advise external clients and stakeholders’ technical development of their local interfaces, in readiness for contributing to, or consuming data from Ontario Health clinical data repositories or assets.
- Manages simultaneous work packages for data contribution projects, ensuring contributed data from external stakeholders adheres to HL7 v2 and FHIR standards, in alignment with the Ontario Health EHR input specifications and FHIR IG’s.
- Determines readiness of data submission to the EHR product repositories and assets, by conducting expert HL7 v2 & FHIR messaging standards review, evaluation and validation of data compliance, conformance, and readiness for data contribution.
- Acts as a senior specialist with external clients, stakeholders, partners, and data sources through a defined data integration methodology designed to measure data conformance and validation of contributed data to the EHR.
- Works with a medium-high level of autonomy based on direction from Leads and/or Management; as well as delivery against set objectives and support scenarios but proactively actioning and resolving issues with minimal supervision.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- In-depth knowledge clinical workflow and technical processes within hospitals or other healthcare sector locations; with knowledge on the flow of information using HL7 standard-based messages.
- Minimum of 7 years of applied experience delivering electronic integration of health data related projects, including integration and adoption initiatives using applied knowledge of healthcare systems, healthcare integration standards such as HL7 V2, V3 and FHIR, XML messaging principles, techniques and technologies is mandatory
- In-depth working and applied knowledge of healthcare systems, healthcare integration standards such as HL7 v2 & FHIR, XML messaging principles, techniques and technologies is mandatory (for example Meditech, Cerner, and Epic).
- Applied use and knowledge of HL7 health standards, and the application of HL7 messaging standards (HL7 versions 2, version 3 and FHIR), HL7 v3 products including CDA, and related implementation guides from multiple standards development organizations. Experience with HL7 FHIR health standard is an asset.
- Applied knowledge of health standards validation & conformance tooling (e.g., Postman, Caristix, XML Spy, 7Edit, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively conveying Ontario Health's conformance testing and validation activities in data acquisition and integration projects to technical staff, project managers, and clinical SMEs
- Detailed knowledge of other Healthcare technology systems such as Pharmacy Management Systems, Lab Information Systems, Hospital Information Systems, Diagnostic Viewers and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems is an asset.

- Experience performing HL7 standards-based message conformance testing, as well as applied knowledge of conformance tooling (e.g., Caristix, XMLSpy, 7Edit, etc.). – 20

Deliverables:
- The purpose of this request is to acquire 5 Senior Product Data Specialists, Clinical Data & Integration with staggered start dates from January to March 2026. The resources in this role will contribute to multiple implementation projects, and participate in the development of various tools, guides and supporting materials used for assessing data conformance, compliance and quality of clinical data to the Electronic Health Record assets within Ontario Health.
Must Haves:
- 5+ years experience Comprehensive understanding of health care sector workflows and source system technologies (such as HIS, EMR, LIS), along with hands-on experience working with Integration Engines, is highly preferred.
- 7+ years hands-on experience in delivering electronic health data integration projects or operations is required. This includes expertise in the acquisition, integration, and utilization of health data employing healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 V2.x (mandatory) and V3. Practical experience with FHIR and XML messaging principles is highly desirable.
- 5+ years experience Applied knowledge of HL7 Health Standard message conformance tooling (e.g., Caristix, XMLSpy, 7Edit, Postman, etc.) for HL7 v2.x, v3, and FHIR.
- Exhibits applied experience demonstrative of strong time management skills by effectively handling numerous projects, each with demanding deadlines.
