Crush Operator/Equipment Operator
Pay Rate: $25.00 – $32.00/hr on W2, depending on experience
Work Type: Onsite – Battle Mountain, NV 89820
Work Schedule: 6:00 am – 6:00 pm/6:00 pm – 6:00 am | 5/week, 12 hrs./day occasional Saturday
Duration: 12-month contract with possible extension/conversion
Additional Information: Standard Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) are required
Raise is currently hiring a Crush Operator/Equipment Operator on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
Job Overview:
Crush Operator:
Operates a crushing plant, preparing mine run rock as feed for beneficiation plant(s). The operator sequentially starts the crushers, conveyors, screens and feeders from one or more control panels.
Equipment Operator:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy earth-moving equipment in the strip mine area and for performing essential ore processing duties within the plant, ensuring all operations meet optimum quality and safety parameters.
Responsibilities:
Crush Operator:
- Monitors the operating machinery, adjusts the amounts of materials being processed in given sections of the plant, and distributes the crushed product(s) by way of stacking conveyors, chutes, etc.
- The operations maintenance performed is cleaning up of accumulated material leaks and spills, periodic changing of wear protection parts, making screen cloth replacements and maintaining walkways, stairs, guards, control room, etc.
- Performs primary equipment maintenance as job situations require, e.g. exchanging motors and head and tail pulleys on conveyors, performing exponent exchange of gear boxes and crusher parts and splicing conveyor belts, elevator chains, etc.
Equipment Operator:
- Operate and maintain heavy earth-moving equipment in the strip mine, including but not limited to:
- Track type dozers
- Loaders (e.g., front-end loaders)
- Backhoes and Excavators
- Off-road haul trucks
- Graders
- Rock drills
- Perform stripping, excavation, grading, and material movement duties as required for the mine plan.
- Ensure adequate feed availability of the proper grade material in the feed bins.
- Conduct daily operator maintenance and thorough pre-operation inspections of assigned equipment.
- Responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements (including MSHA) and company procedures.
- Operate heavy equipment that includes pushing waste and ore dumps.
- Keeping records of loads and equipment fueling, maintenance, etc.
- Cleaning tracks, buckets, cabs with shovels, picks and brooms.
- Supporting mechanics in performing mechanical repair on occasion.
- Servicing equipment as necessary, such as changing lubricants, filters, and wear parts.
- Continually inspect their work areas for unsafe or substandard conditions or unsafe work practices.
- Correct or take interim action on any unsafe or substandard conditions or practices that they observe and report to the immediate supervisor.
- Participate, as required, in all training classes and exercises.
- Participate, as required, in all HSE performance development activities and systems.
- Report all injury, near-miss, property damage and hazardous conditions to their immediate supervisor.
- Other tasks may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment is required, including: loaders, forklifts, haul trucks, and skid steers.
- Work outside in all extremes of weather.
- Occasionally work in restrictive spaces with difficult access.
- Occasionally climb onto and work on high perches on tall storage bins, conveyor structures, or buildings.
- Climb up and down inclines and slopes with aid of stairs or ropes.
- Work on shift schedules including night and graveyard shifts.
