Business Analyst

  • Pay Rate: $95.00/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length: 6 months with the possibility of extension
  • Location: Calgary, Alberta

Raise is currently hiring a Business Analyst on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.

Description 

The Business Analyst in this role will support the migration from the Research Management System (RMS) and Electronic Research Services Office (eRSO) applications to the PeopleSoft Grants and Contract modules. Term: January 5, 2026 to August 31, 2026 with possibility of extension.  

Deliverables

  • Requirements Analysis, Requirements Management and Solution Design
    • Perform Gap Analysis
    • Work with stakeholders to elicit and prioritize Business, Functional, Non-Functional and Transition Requirements.
    • Trace all requirements through design, testing and quality assurance.
    • Assist in the determination of solutions with associated costs and risks.
    • Coordinate requirement and business design approvals/changes.
  • Solution Implementation
    • Assist technical teams in understanding requirements and business design so that effective technical solutions are implemented.
    • Build out people, policy, and process deliverables.
    • Transition to operations 
    • Build Support and Governance models with technical teams
  • Data Cleanup & Migration
    • Work with the technical team and business groups to resolve data migration issues and data cleanup
  • Quality Assurance 
    • Develop test strategy, test plan and test cases
    • Test execution and defect tracking
  • Reporting & Data Warehouse
    • Work with development teams and business groups to review:
    • Existing reports and queries
    • New management reports and queries

Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with the project team and key stakeholders to create documentation as required:
  • Process modeling
  • Gap Assessment – Traceability Matrix
  • Develop RASCI matrix
  • Develop Test Strategy, Test Plan and Test Cases
  • Working with OCM and Trainer to develop training documentation
  • Ensure adherence to the ITIO Methodology, use of our BA standard templates as well as the specific Solution Delivery processes and standards.
  • Liaise with the ITIO group for additional guidance on ITIO BA standards.
  • Ensure all project documentation and deliverables are stored in the official SharePoint project repository.
  • Ensure that project decisions are formally documented as per ITIO Methodology.
  • Provide reporting and status updates to the ITIO team as required.
  • Ensure compliance with University standards, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • 8 years’ experience as a Business Analyst, with experience working on enterprise-level programs and strong familiarity with BA methodologies and tools.
  • Strong background in data conversion and migration from third-party systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in Process Modeling and Technical Writing.
  • Proven ability to document business processes and procedures.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience in influencing and engaging all levels of stakeholders and supporting change initiatives (Stakeholder Management).

  • Highly Desirable ("Nice to Have") Skills
  • Working knowledge of Project Costing, Billing, and G/L modules (PeopleSoft).
  • Previous experience with PeopleSoft FSCM 9.2, especially Grants, Contracts, and Project Costing.
  • Knowledge of Grants and Contracts processes.
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM 49) and PeopleTools (PT 8.60).
  • Experience with product integration.
  • Experience or understanding of financial accounting and reporting.
  • Experience or understanding of post-secondary student feedback surveys.
  • Education and Skills 
    • Degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field)

  • Candidates in this role will be working a hybrid schedule of at least 2 days in the office
