Contract Specialist – Category Management

Raise is currently hiring a Contract Specialist – Category Management on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Contract Specialist – Category Management in this role will be a dedicated resource supporting the Field Support Services (FSS) Category Team. This role is responsible for the formal management of contracts with medium to high complexity within the FSS portfolio. The successful candidate will apply expert knowledge of contract management practices and public sector procurement law to ensure contracts are managed safely, with quality, within budget, and on time. This role is critical for optimizing category management processes, ensuring supplier compliance, mitigating risk, and driving continuous improvement within the FSS contract lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Contract Lifecycle Management for FSS Portfolio:
- Maintain, update, and oversee all contracts within the Field Support Services category, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory standards. Manage amendments, renewals, and documentation for a diverse range of field support contracts.
- Dedicated Category Team Support:
- Act as the primary resource for contract-related inquiries and troubleshooting within the FSS team. Facilitate communication and coordination between category leads, field operations, and external suppliers to resolve issues efficiently.
- Process Optimization in Category Management:
- Identify and implement improvements to contract management processes specific to FSS, streamlining workflows and driving operational efficiency across the category portfolio.
- Reporting & Performance Oversight:
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that track contract performance, supplier compliance, and key metrics for the FSS category. Provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Supplier Relationship & Performance Enhancement:
- Monitor supplier deliverables and contract KPIs, collaborating with category leads and field teams to ensure contracts deliver maximum value, mitigate risk, and support FSS objectives.
- Continuous Improvement & Best Practices:
- Lead or support initiatives to elevate contract management standards within FSS, recommending enhancements and sharing best practices across the portfolio team.
Qualifications
- 7 – 9 years of contract management work experience, with demonstrated work experience in formal contract management.
- Proven ability to perform contract management activities for medium to high complexity contracts by applying expert knowledge of contract management best practices while working effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent working knowledge of public sector procurement law and the application of supply chain concepts to achieve best value.
- Demonstrated experience in monitoring and reporting on contract performance, identifying and resolving issues, and managing supplier relationships to maximize performance.
- Experience providing guidance and advice to client groups in the sourcing, procurement, and management of goods and services contracts.
- Nice to have:
- SAP experience/familiarity
- Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Economics, or related discipline, or equivalent
- Certificate in Project Management, Supply Chain Management or equivalent, an asset
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Additional Information
Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
