CFO

Our client is seeking an experienced CFO to join its executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across accounting, finance, procurement, warehouse, and facilities functions.

The ideal candidate brings strong finance leadership experience—preferably within utilities or other regulated industries—along with the ability to partner closely with senior leadership to drive financial strategy, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as a key member of the leadership team, partnering with the CEO on financial strategy, business planning, and long-term organizational goals.
  • Lead the development of annual budgets, financial plans, forecasts, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze monthly financial and operational results and present financial reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Support rate design, financial modeling, and key performance indicator (KPI) development.

Accounting, Compliance & Reporting

  • Oversee all accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP, RUS, and FERC Uniform System of Accounts.
  • Manage internal controls and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Lead the annual external audit process and maintain strong relationships with auditors, lenders, and regulators.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to federal, state, and local agencies (e.g., FERC, IRS, state tax authorities).
  • Oversee cash management, debt activities, loan portfolios, and insurance programs.

Leadership & Operations Oversight

  • Provide leadership and direction to Accounting, Procurement, Warehouse, and Facilities teams.
  • Coach, develop, and evaluate managers and staff, fostering a high-performing culture.
  • Oversee procurement strategy, inventory management, vendor negotiations, and contract compliance.
  • Ensure effective warehouse and facilities operations to support electric, broadband, and solar projects.
  • Oversee facilities-related functions, security coordination, and compliance programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Experience in utility accounting or regulated industries strongly preferred.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, audits, financial controls, treasury, and insurance.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional departments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive, board, and external audiences.
