This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and entrepreneurial Production Supervisor who wants to play a key leadership role in plant operations while contributing to the long-term success of a growing business.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations / Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is a key member of the plant’s senior leadership team. This role offers the chance to lead day-to-day production operations, drive continuous improvement, and positively impact plant performance, culture, and employee engagement.

With strong support and mentorship from a highly experienced Operations/Production Manager, you will help ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality production environment, while developing both your leadership skills and future career potential.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leadership & Operations

·       Lead all shift production operations, supervising salaried and hourly employees to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production.

·       Foster a positive, engaged workforce through training, coaching, counseling, and employee development.

·       Step in to cover or delegate responsibilities during absences to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Continuous Improvement & Performance

·       Partner cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement initiatives and reduce operational waste.

·       Collect, analyze, and monitor production data to support informed decision-making, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements.

·       Implement plant-specific initiatives aligned with corporate goals.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

·       Champion safety and ergonomics programs to maintain an injury-free workplace.

·       Ensure compliance with all FSQA, HACCP, SOP, GMP, BRC, and regulatory requirements.

·       Address quality issues, including product failures and foreign material incidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

·       Lead sanitation and maintenance processes to maintain operational and food safety standards.

Employee Engagement & Development

·       Drive training, development, and engagement initiatives to support manufacturing, safety, quality, and productivity goals.

·       Promote lean manufacturing practices using tools such as OEE, DDS, 5S, QFD, and TPM.

·       Communicate performance results, expectations, and action plans clearly to teams and foremen.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·       Work closely with production planning, materials management, finance, and HR to optimize schedules, customer service, and budget execution.

·       Address employee relations issues and support cost-saving initiatives while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Daily Responsibilities

·       Review staffing levels and assign resources to meet daily production demands.

·       Communicate daily production plans and priorities to shift leaders.

·       Monitor material inventory levels and escalate issues as needed.

·       Maintain a strong floor presence for process verification, documentation reviews, efficiency checks, and FSQA evaluations.

·       Make real-time decisions to minimize the impact of unplanned events.

·       Complete and share daily production reports, including issues and next-shift priorities.

·       Review and complete all operational, FSQA, and HACCP documentation.

·       Full-time, permanent, on-site role (5 days/week) aligned with production schedules

Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Management, or a related field (preferred)

·       5–7 years of leadership experience in food manufacturing or production (required)

·       Experience in a large, high-speed, 24/7 food manufacturing environment (meat preferred)

·       Strong working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, BRC, and USDA regulations (required)

·       TPM experience and strong computer application skills

·       Solid mathematical, statistical, and financial acumen

·       Proven problem-solving, analytical, and process management skills

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·       Ability to prioritize, delegate, and plan effectively

·       Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship
