Specialist Project Engineer – Transmission – Lines
- Pay Rate: $128.08hour, depending on experience

Raise is currently hiring a Specialist Project Engineer – Transmission – Lines on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.
Description
The Project Engineer Specialist Consultant in this role will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that project designs are safe, effective, and meet the requirements. The Ideal candidate will have working knowledge project management principles and roles and working knowledge of design, substations, protection, control, and telecom systems, an asset. Solid electric utility engineering background with the ability to think from a transmission system and operations perspective as well as an ability to understand the interactions and priorities of multi-discipline projects
Responsibilities
- Provides engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management for medium to high-complexity projects and operations.
- Develops safe engineering solutions and interprets complex specifications.
- Resolves "highly technical and unusual" design and field problems through independent study and judgment.
- Project Oversight: * Manages safety, cost, and time objectives.
- Proposes plan changes, recommends contractor payments, and prepares progress reports.
- Strategic Contribution: * Contributes to the development of ’s technical standards and engineering practices.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to other engineering professionals.
- Decision Making: * Establishes design bases, criteria, and concepts for major assignments.
- Makes recommendations regarding the management of engineering resources.
- Stakeholder Relations: * Defines project scopes and establishes design criteria with clients.
- Approves all technical documentation and reports on progress against standards.
Qualifications
- 10 years of transmission engineering experience including significant time working in the electrical utility industry,
- 4 years of working experience in leading multi-discipline design teams and in transmission line planning, design, and construction for medium to large scale projects
- Extensive experience in Transmission Lines (planning, design, and construction).
- Ability to understand the impact of projects on transmission system operations and manage interactions between different engineering disciplines.
- Previous experience working with or a similar utility, including knowledge of their specific project delivery processes and design practices. (nice to have)
- Working knowledge of Substations, Protection & Control (P&C), and Telecom systems.(nice to have)
- Experience spanning the total project lifecycle, from conceptual design through to testing and commissioning.(nice to have)
- Site experience on large construction projects (hydroelectric stations, substations, or lines)(nice to have)
- Experience managing "Owner’s Reviews" for engineering work completed by external vendors. (nice to have)
- Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
- Excellent leadership and communication skills (written and verbal) for stakeholder management and influencing internal/ external) partners.
Additional Information
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
